Maybe it's not a real JP, but is it a good piece that speaks to you?  That's what matters.  Art shouldn't be just about $.

I was visiting Helsinki Finland for work and stayed at a Holiday Inn (The Expo HI, I believe).  They had a very large Jackson Pollock on hand.  I'd sit in the lobby and just stare at it for quite a while.  Excellent work.

Very interesting and informative. I am a JP fan. If the work speaks to you, and you can afford it, buy it or you will regret it later.  The amount paid for it is unimportant.

mentott510 So glad you liked this, Mento. I really enjoyed it too and was wondering if it was going to resonate with anyone else on here.

squrlz4ever  You might consider viewing the film "Pollock" with Ed Harris. It gives some idea of what could have driven his art.

mentott510 Good idea. Thank you! I've never seen that movie and I'd forgotten all about it. I'll check and see if it's on Netflix.

squrlz4ever  I thought it interesting and informative. But my opinion of these scribbles as "art" has not changed.

Gerry1of1 If you can find it, you should watch 'Day of the Painter'. It's a short film about an expressionist 'artist'. Probably from the early '60s.

semichisam   Not saying all modern art is rubbish, just most of it.

Gerry1of1 I tend to agree, but I do rather enjoy several of Pollock’s pieces.

Gerry1of1 The skill to keep in mind with viewing any art or anything that we encounter during the day is to practice non-judgement. View art like a child would...it much more enjoyable.

mentott510 Bull shit. I am an adult and I view art as an adult.
I don't pretend I'm a bird, or lizard, or child... You have been had

Gerry1of1 "Not saying all modern art is rubbish, just most of it."

90% of everything is crap. Time burns away the dross. When I hear a host on a classical music program say, "This next piece is seldom played these days..." I turn the radio off. I know why it isn't played any more.
