Transgender Boxer Pat Manuel Wins By Unanimous Decision In Historic Professional Debut

“I think if people knew what it took to get to this moment, it’s been almost two years since I’ve been in a ring,” Manuel said after the fight. “I just have to say my opponent, hats off to him. He came to fight. He was fighting me the whole time. He fought me as a man, and I have so much respect for him.”

“I hear some fans aren’t happy,” Manuel added when hearing boos from the crowd. “It’s OK, I’ll be back. I’ll make them happy then.”

Lets face it, Manuel could walk up to any of us in the street, and (without prior knowledge) we'd never know what organs he was born with.

Insisting on referring to him as a woman is only possible because of his publicized story - Don't be an asshole.

Obviously loaded with steroids, I thought performance enhancing drugs were illegal.

Shelworth Oestrogen inhibitors and Testosterone supplements, the levels of each are monitored and kept at appropriate levels for your average man.

Not exactly "loaded with steroids"

Shelworth "I thought performance enhancing drugs were illegal."
That seems to be an excellent point. Clearly an exception was made here. Of course, any drugs Patricio Manuel was taking were involved with the gender change, but how were rules enforced in this case?

Just dawned on me, Why do we have Women AND Mens Chess Tourneys?

Surely we can just merge those, I mean the men's tournaments pay out so much more money, why not just have one?

daegog Let them once and you'll see. Physical endurance is a lot more important in high level chess play than most understand.

daegog I think snooker and darts could be merged, I guess anything that involves technique rather than physicality could be.

daegog women are not considered to be able to compete fairly with men. And every boys versus girls National Tournament the women hasn't haven't fared as well

dm2754 I suspect a lot of that is because of available competition.  If the female division is smaller, they will have fewer folks to compete against and that typically makes for a weaker player base.

If they merge all the groups, as they should, then I think we could rapidly see equality in game play skill.

dm2754 I read the comment. What did I miss about you suggesting that your video was somehow clarifying things for the confused people out there? Or, we could just call it what it really was and cut the shit. You felt you had to take a little pot shot and hit below the belt, for lack of a better term.

Winning by decision in boxing is basically like well there were no winners so how do we break the tie. In this case it's like judging a ice skating competition. Who look like they fought the best.
Using the point system is also flawed. ( counting hits)

dm2754 You are a special kind of idiot and have zero understanding of the sport of boxing clearly. I'd suggest watching the first two Ali / Fraser fights for a start. Decisions are as much a part of boxing as KOs. The fact you would dismiss the first two fights between Ali and Fraser as Ice Skating competitions really shows the level of understanding you have of what it takes to go pro in boxing.

Good job at showing your ignorance. Perhaps you should grab an encyclopedia.
There are three ways to win.
Knockout.
Points
Decision
But then again there's no point in you waiting anything since you can't seem to grasp those Concepts. I don't think I can explain it any simpler. Especially if the video I shared was over your head.

dm2754 How exactly did I show my ignorance? He won by decision. You criticized ALL boxers who win by decision, including Ali, the Greatest of All Time, by suggesting a decision win isn't a real win. Not one boxer on Earth would agree with that sentiment.

Let's see who she fought.

Name: Hugo Aguilar
Age: 33 years old.
Fights:  Six (in his nine year 'career'.)
Wins:  Zero
Lost every one of them.

Why, it was almost like they were looking for a patsy she was sure to be able to beat.

megrendel He went pro. Won his debut. That isn't easy. Stop belittling it and acting like some insecure baby. Why are you threatened by this to such a degree that you have to dig for dirt?

Most well coached pros fight unskilled or washed up boxers in the beginning. Ali did it. The best you can say about this new pro fighter is that he is unproven.

In that case, good on you, spare us all the personal attacks calling him a she and attacking the level of his opponent.

todd_dirks I didn’t say it was easy, nor that she didn’t work hard for it. I’m not even arguing that she one.

I’m arguing that 1) she beat a guy who has never won and 2) she is still a she.

megrendel You seem rather pissed off with this post? Do you have a problem with a Trans-man fighting men? Is there any need to refer to him as "She"?

No. You're just being a dick.

I have no doubt he's more of a man than you even have been or will be.... And He used to be a woman.

layla_wilson Is there any need to refer to him as "She"?

Yeah, because she is a she.  No surgery, no therapy, no identifying, will change that fact.

Layla_wolson And He used to be a woman.

And She still is.

todd_dirks Obviously threatened by this guy.

*gal*

todd_dirks why engage in personal attacks

Stating the obvious is not a personal attack.  The opponent was a nobody. Can't deny that she beat him, though.

todd_dirks belittle his accomplishment

*her* accomplishment.

todd_dirks  and call him a she.

Because she's, well, a she. You (or her) cannot change that scientific fact.

megrendel Well we both know SHE could kick your ass too. So I guess that's what all this really boils down to in the end. You can't stand the fact that SHE is beating guys up, and could easily wipe the floor with you, and you're fragile masculinity can't handle HER ability to beat the shit out of men.

todd_dirks It's no secret that there are some women who can beat up some men.  (My first fiancé used to beat me up regularly...but that was because I would not raise my hand in reply.)

I don't care who she beats up, but if she wants it to be an impressive defeat she needs to defeat someone who has actually won a fight before.

Fragile masculinity has nothing to do with it.  Disregarding scientific fact in the name of political correctness does.

Again, SHE can call herself anything she wants. No skin off my back. She does not need my, or anyone's, validation to call herself a pink bunny. But she, nor anyone else, has the right to demand others fall in line with her delusions.

Stating a fact is not being rude.  It's stating a fact.

megrendel We now know there are fish that change gender.

Chickens have been known to change genders.

Several medical conditions can result in an apparent sex change in humans, where the appearance at birth is somewhat, mostly, or completely of one sex, but changes over the course of a lifetime to becoming the other sex.

What sex is someone born with both sets of genitals?

What race is someone who is mixed race?

You are hiding your bigotry behind fake 'facts'. The very fact you think he is somehow imposing upon you by asking you to refer to him by what he identifies with demonstrates your fragility more than it does any facts.

The facts you are referring to are a persons sex, not gender.

A persons Sex is determined by the biological anatomy of an individual's reproductive system.

A persons Gender refers to social roles and/or a personal identification with who they are based on an internal awareness. ie, their Gender Awareness.

This person's gender is male. You have no facts to dispute this. There are no facts to dispute this. The facts demonstrate that this person is a male, and you are using the wrong gender identifier for him.

How old were you when you made the conscious choice to have a male gender?

How old were you when you made the choice to be a straight male?

If those two questions seem odd to you, you're beginning to understand the heart of this issue.

todd_dirks  Several medical conditions can result in an apparent sex

Yes, apparent. Not actual. Humans ain't Fish nor Fowl (Chicken).

todd_dirks  How old were you when you made the conscious choice to have a male gender?

There was no decision.  I is what I is.  My DNA determined it.

todd_dirks   How old were you when you made the choice to be a straight male?

I did not decide to be straight. I discovered I was straight when I discovered tits.

I discovered I was male when I first found my dick.

dm2754 Did you even read the post? OP was attacking the fighter with personal attacks calling him a she, and questioning the accomplishment because the fighter took the tried and true root of not immediately taking on serious opponents when you first turn pro. It was a personal attack, and therefore they are clearly threatened somehow by this accomplishment.

dm2754 You simply can't handle facts or real information, and thus resort to child-like attacks with no foundation in reality.

No one turns pro without some serious chops. Some fighters never get a win after turning pro and wash out. This is no joke. When you first turn pro, or if you take a long hiatus, it is advisable to take on dead-men, nobodys, Patsies, washed up old-timers, Journeymen etc until you feel comfortable and confident to take on 'Gatekeepers.'

This guy wasn't ducking real competition. Period.

dm2754 I think its about the fact that we see so many men transition to women and compete against other women, folks love to give them tons of shit.

Here we have a woman that transition to a man, went to compete against other men in BOXING of all things, whupped that dudes ass (you can see the fight on youtube) and you are STILL giving him shit.  I think if Pat didn't have that long lay off, he probably could of won on a TKO.

TLDR: There is no winning with a bigot lol.

daegog well congratulations for buying into the hype. But apparently you don't understand boxing. She didn't whip ass at all.

This is this is gender propaganda just like the man vs woman boxing match a few years back. No male boxer would take the match.. they were only able to find an amateur boxer who wasn't even ranked. And again she won    by points

dm2754 You were the one who said decisions are fake wins. You know jack shit about boxing if that's your position.

If you think turning pro and getting a win isn't an accomplishment, you're an idiot sir. Attacking someone that accomplishes this, and belittling them for no other reason than the fact they were once female is about as pathetic as I've seen anyone on these forums...

Honestly, this HAD to have taken more discipline, dedication and hard work than any man who was born a man becoming a pro boxer.

There's no way around it. So give the guy some props.

As I said, MANY great champions from Tyson to Ali choose to take easy fights in their pro debut and early years. This guy isn't ducking. He's taken a path many greats have taken.

Is he going to be champ some day? Not likely... Is it an accomplishment? Hell ya. Is it worth belittling on some forum? I guess if your masculinity feels that threatened by him.

Probably.  But that does not make her a man because I know several women that could, also. (One's a neighbor...firefighter, short and gorgeous.)

daegog I guess you could try to shoot "she" lol.

If I was in an agreed fight, no or course not.  Should she attack me in a dark alley somewhere, good chance of it.

Neither situation changes the fact that she is a she.

LordJim Almost every great champion starts out their pro career fighting nobodys. The fact that people who don't know the sport are attacking him for this really shows their lack of knowledge of the sport.

It's actually incredibly important to slowly build a fighter's confidence in this way.
