In three days we have the centennial of the end of WWI. There is nothing great about the 'great' war.

There is nothing great about the 'great' war.

No one thinks that WWI was a 'fun' war to have.

Of course, sensible people know which definition of 'great' is used in the term 'The Great War'.

Let's see if IAB can figure it out:
great
[greyt] -adjective
1. unusually  or comparatively  large  in size  or dimensions:
A great  fire  destroyed  nearly  half  the  city.

2.large  in number;  numerous:
Great  hordes  of tourists  descend  on Europe  each  summer.

3.unusual  or considerable  in degree,  power,  intensity,  etc.:
    great  pain.

4. wonderful;  first-rate;  very  good:
We had  a great  time.  That's  great!

Hint: It's not number 4.

Everyone dies at the end of each season of Blackadder.... but the last season, WWI season, it's somehow sadder because it's so likely to have happened that way to the men there.

This is the 100 year anniversary of the end of WWI

War is insane. Even worse are the people that create a fetishise and glamourise it.
