Open Forum Thanksgiving: Brought To You By "The Machine: The Bride Of Pinbot"

Submitted by: kalron 1 month ago in Entertainment
pinbot

Pinbot was released in 1986 and was a success for Williams' pinball division.  It's sequel, "The Machine: The Bride of Pinbot", was a huge hit as well.  Introducing a female character heavily inspired by Maschinenmensch or Maria The Impersonator from the film Metropolis, named only as "The Machine".  The game progression is to transform The Machine into a human female, needless to say many a quarters were dumped into this pinball machine.  Here is a gameplay video of the play field.  Obvious Sexual Overtones Are Obvious :)

Regarding our Fembot Spammer.  You all may notice that it has reduced, but there may be residual spam comments on some threads.  This is due to the fact that our furry friend Squrlz rightfully concluded that if we stopped deleting the comments, the spambot could not replicate.  Just ignore them for now and we will hopefully have a block in place soon.

Happy Turkey (Tofurkey) Day Everyone!  Here's to another year of stuffing your face with tradition!

Stolen Joke:

An elderly couple, who were both widowed, had been going out with each other for a long time. Urged on by their friends, they decided it was finally time to get married. Before the wedding, they went out to dinner and had a long conversation regarding how their marriage might work. They discussed finances, living arrangements and so on.

Finally, the old gentleman decided it was time to broach the subject of their physical relationship.

'How do you feel about sex?' he asked, rather tentatively.

'I would like it infrequently' she replied.

...

The old gentleman sat quietly for a moment, leaned over towards her and whispered - 'Is that one word or two?'

Fireball is my favorite pinball machine.  The original 1970's electro-mechanical version.  It is considered to be one of the holy grail machines of all time.  A real challenge.  It is the first multi-ball machine.  I also has a spinning disc in the center and flippers can move closer together.  Good sound effects too.

Based on a true story, but the real story is far more horrible than the manga could depict:

Gerry1of1 Well yeah, it's far from boring eh? Just not in that happy way :p

And being informed of reality in such cases is... helpful. There's a lot of Japanese fear of abductions like this, even though they're actually incredibly rare, just like the rest of the civilized world. But they really do happen...

A young cowboy from Montana goes off to college.

Half way through the semester, having foolishly squandered all his money .... he calls home.

"Dad," he says, "You won't believe what modern education is developing! They actually have a program here in University that will teach our dog, Ole' Blue how to talk!"

"That's amazing," his Dad says. "How do I get Ole' Blue in that program?"

"Just send him down here with $1,000" the young cowboy says "and I'll get him in the course."

So, his father sends the dog and $1,000.

About two-thirds of the way through the semester, the money again runs out. The boy calls home.

"So how's Ole' Blue doing son?" his father asks.

"Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!"

"Read!?" says his father, "No kidding! How do we get Blue in that program?"

"Just send $2,500, I'll get him in the class." The money promptly arrives. But the young lad has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find out the dog can neither talk, nor read.

So he shoots the dog.

When he arrives home at the end of the year, his father is all excited.

"Where's Ole' Blue? I just can't wait to see him read something and talk!"

"Dad," the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Ole' Blue was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal, like he usually does".

"Then Ole' Blue turned to me and asked, so, is your daddy still messing around with that little redhead who lives down the street?"

The father went white and exclaimed, "I hope you shot that lying dog before he talks to your Mother!"

"I sure did, Dad!"

"That's my boy!"

I decided to make a new breakfast sandwich this morning.  A derivative of "The Bobby" which I name "The Breakfast Bobby":  Egg Bagel smeared with mayo on top, cream cheese and cranberry sauce on the bottom, filled with sliced "turkey", mashed potatoes pan reheated topped with brown gravy and an egg over easy.  Absolutely delicious!!!

Sorry, no pics, phone is dead this morning and I couldn't wait to eat it :)

Why not piss on the bagel and ruin it that way.

Gerry1of1 Alton Brown has an excellent cranberry sauce recipe that is essentially a chutney that is good enough to double as pie filling.  Don’t judge cranberry sauce by what comes out of the can and giggles around on the plate.

Gerry1of1 I once thought as you did, then I had a "Bobby".  It somehow works.  I'm still not into straight cranberry sauce though.

Honestly, the way I did the bagel, the cranberry sauce went perfectly with cream cheese, the tartness worked well together.

kalron hmmm well okay, I would try it. I don't like cinnamon but it's nice in an apple pie.  But I think I'd ditch the bagel, get some good artisan bread and grill it on a sandwich press. :)  toasty

You could just get a canned dinner and slice it up, put on bread

Gerry1of1 I, for one, will speak up in defense of cranberry sauce, particularly when made fresh with the whole berries. It's a chutney, essentially. I adore it.

I have a recipe for some that includes raisins, vinegar, brown sugar, onion, and even a hint of jalapeno. It is out of this world. I could eat it year round. It goes wonderfully with any meat.

Still emptied the mall though.

Gerry1of1 Thankfully no, it looks like an escalated fight.  I think it was an off-duty cop/working security at the mall, Im still looking for details, as well as which one shot the 12 year old, and was this guy already a criminal and in possession of the firearm illegally.

So I saw this, and im not 100% sure if real or not, but for the moment, assume it is.

This appears to my eyes to be HIGHLY illegal, you cannot detain a person against their will, so to what extent can they destroy the windows/doors legally to get themselves out of there?

Again, going on the assumption that this situation (or one akin to it) is real.

daegog The company as a whole should also get fined. If they are not providing enough coverage so that employees can get their legally required break, then the company is doing something seriously wrong.

I worked as a lead at a Dollar General, and because of a no-call-no-show, I had to work 8 hours of my 9 hour shift alone. (Scheduled for 10, 1 hour lunch)

DuckBoy87  One black friday 7 years ago I was working Electronics and the person I was supposed to be working with was a no call no show to make matters worse the person who was scheduled to relieve me at the end of my shift was also a no call no   show. I ended up work ing  a 15 hour shift with no lunch or break alone on one of the busiest shopping days of the year every time I called management for help I was ignored
Then I got in trouble for not taking lunch and working unscheduled overtime
Good times at Wal Mart

thezigrat I have a buddy who worked in a shoe store in a mall. He was the only one scheduled during his shift aside from the manager. But there was a planned meeting where higher ups all came by for whatever reason.

The higher ups and the manager all took the piss out on him to show how superior they were, or whatever. Well, they all left to the food court for lunch or whatever. Well, my buddy hadn't had his break or lunch yet either. So, a little after they left, so did he. And he left the store unattended.

They all saw him in the food court and his manager asked him who was watching the store. My buddy shrugged his shoulders and said, I don't know, but I'm taking my scheduled lunch.

The manager got wide eyed and ran back to the store. The manager got in trouble for not having proper coverage, and my buddy got off scot free.

melcervini I have never shopped on Black Friday. I've seen too many videos and pics of rioting and mayhem. I don't even leave the house. But this morning, I couldn't sleep, so I went to Home Depot's early bird sale. I arrived at five minutes to six, for their six o'clock opening.
As I headed for an empty parking space, a guy in another pickup stopped and waved me in. As I walked to the back of the line, a woman who arrived at the same time said ,"you go ahead. We'll get there at the same time.
Inside, people were waiting patiently for others loading carts in aisles piled with goods, and making way for each other.
It felt like being transported to Canada.
Home depot, when the meme fell!

Once upon a time, a man came into a village and announced he would buy all the monkeys they could catch for 10$ each.

The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers; "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each."

The villagers rounded up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.

They never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!

Now you have a better understanding of how the cryptocurrency market works.

scheckydamon LOL... Bambi McNuggets. I was driving on some backroads in Pennsylvania today and saw a sign in front of a barn and some outbuildings that read, "Deer Processing." Which makes a lot of sense, actually. If you hunt, you might not wanna do all the work of butchering yourself.

Gotta say though, this barn and the buildings and the entire property were very creepy looking. I could easily imagine someone driving up to that place, going inside the barn, and never being seen again. No doubt the missing person would be "processed."

These are the kinds of spooky stories that keep a squirrel awake at nights.

The bell ringers have already started showing up at the local stores.

For many years, I dreaded shopping during the "holiday season" because the bell ringers were waiting at the exits of all the stores I shop at. One day I gave some thought to what bothered me about them. I approve of their causes. Though I am not religious myself, I don't object to their religion. What I realized is that I simply wasn't ready for them. I was coming out of a store carrying bags or packages. I would have to put something down on the ground and get out my wallet, while acting as a boulder in the stream of shoppers coming behind me. So I just kept walking. But I was missing an opportunity. Three years ago I decided to carry dollar bills in my jacket pocket, folded so that they were easy to reach and easy to stuff in a slot without breaking my stride.

The first year, I managed to get rid of only fifteen dollars. The second year only twenty-one. Now I use fives, because $21 is a pitifully small amount of money.

I'm not trying to save the world here, but these people are standing out in the cold, trying to collect a few bucks for local worthy causes. It helps if they can see something going into the pot. If half of the adults that pass by them drop in a dollar, they can all go home to their families.

been an active part of the IAB experience is allowed to select or approve
all of the posts for that day.

Let's start with MonkWarrior   I am curious to see what he would think is
of interest to the IAB crowd.

monkwarrior It's Thanksgiving in America, most users are American, and the mods figured most Americans are off today, so they'd might like relax with an open forum today.

This open forum will last to Monday as per usual.
