Jeff Sessions "Resigns" One Day After The Midterm Elections

Submitted by: kalron 4 days ago in News & Politics
Love him or hate him, Jeff Sessions likes the Law and has followed it in the way he saw fit when dealing with the Mueller Investigation.  He recused himself and has been bashed repeatedly for doing so by Trump.  Now on the eve after losing control of The House, Sessions has been forced out of his position and Rod Rosenstein has been replaced by Matthew Whitaker, who is now tasked with overseeing Mueller, further limiting the investigation.

I don't care what party you affiliate with, there is something very suspicious about this.  If their was no criminal activity and if Trump has nothing to hide, why is Trump acting like a guilty man by ousting someone who is trying to uphold the Law?

Did Russia meddle in the US elections?
To quote your president "I don't see why they wouldn't".
Is that somehow wrong?
If it is wrong why does America do it every opportunity that I get. Us meddling in elections is the reason why there is a North and South Korea

dm2754 "Us meddling in elections is the reason why there is a North and South Korea"
That is partly true. Elections were not involved.
The Korean peninsula was under the control of Japan for decades. In 1945, when all of the 'allies' were negotiating who would administer what, the US and the USSR settled a disagreement over Korea by dividing control between them. The understanding was that both would leave after a few years and the two parts of the peninsula would work it out.
It wasn't working out, and in 1948 the US asked the UN to call for an all-peninsula vote on reunification. North Korea refused to be involved and put Kim Il Sung in charge of its government. Kim declared war, and we had a treaty with Seoul. My next-door neighbor died in that war (yes, 'Mash' is a lot of fun).
You have not adequately studied it. I lived it. Russia was the puppeteer. Russia was our enemy then, and Russia is our enemy now.

At least he had the balls to write: "At your request," I didn't think he had it in him.

I don't feel bad for any members of trump's cabinet who get fired. They've done some really bad things and they deserve what's coming to them. I know trump only fires these guys because it furthers his agenda of avoiding being taken, down but that's an entirely different matter. They can burn in Hell.

Trump just revoked Acasta's Press Pass efectively silencing CNN

thezigrat Watch the video of the 'press conference'. After Acosta refuses to give up the mike, Trump walks from behind the lectern as if he is about to come into the crowd, and Acosta lets go of the mike. I don't know whether Trump would have continued down to accost Acosta, but I know, and Acosta knew that security would be all over his ass before Trump could reach him. Someone would get hurt. Now, we've all been hurt.

Shelworth "CNN only has the one reporter??!!! Wow, they should hire more people!

That's funny. You don't know how it works, do you?"

Acosta had a 'hard press pass'. That means that he could enter or leave the grounds and the building at will, only showing his pass. Any replacement CNN proposes will have a daily pass. CNN will have to reapply every day, and wait for approval, every day. Approval usually takes a while, if they like you. It can be, and sometimes is, just refused.

That isn't as funny, is it?

Shelworth "Maybe CNN should try someone who's not such a dick..."
What Acosta did, and all that he did, was to ask a question on our behalf and do his best to get an answer. That is his job. That would be the job of anyone who replaces him. The president's job in that room was to answer questions.
I'll say it again, you don't know how it works, do you?

Funny how Trump has lived in the public eye all his life but only after seeking office has he suddenly become a racist.  It's almost like some people have grown hysterical and read racism into everything because Trump says one thing and they hear another.  I'll have to investigate this further as it's just a theory for now.

dromed Nice try, you basically took an internet meme and posted it almost word for word:

This is internet garbage proven false.  Here is a list of times Trump was accused of being racist BEFORE running for President.  Snopes already did the investigation for you:

Actually, it's a hypothesis, and a sterling example of the scientific method in action.

When you're asked to resign you're essentially being fired.

But you got to love the conspiracy theory here
-1

Male 7,120
dm2754 There is no conspiracy at all.  Trump is firing the guy (who recused himself) that was in charge of the guy collecting information on his possible misconduct.

That is a simple fact.

It's going into high gear now.

Trump knows his Trumpets won't turn their back on him no matter how much he debases the country, its constitution, it's laws (taxes or otherwise), every value or tenet of the Christian faith, scandal, hush money etc etc to infinity.

As long as he's racist, racists gunna have his back.

So I say buckle up, you haven't seen anything yet. Half of America just legitimized his behavior over the last two years... It's going into overdrive now.

Draculya I think you're already in a civil war.

"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups" -George Carlin.

The rise of stupid, ignorant Americans versus everyone else.

Just look at the numbers from the midterms.

60% of white men voted for Trump. YES, they voted for Trump. There is no Republican party left. It's the party of Trump.

Educated white men voted in the majority for Democrats. In fact, the majority of all educated whites voted Democrat.

All other races and religions voted Democrat.

So America is literally at war with it's most ignorant people. People who have now said LOUD and clear, WE DON'T CARE how much corruption, racism, sexism, sexual misconduct, indictments, guilty pleas, lies (6,500 and counting), cuts to social programs, tax cuts to the rich, illegal activity or treason that goes on. DON'T CARE if you support nazi's and incite violence against journalists and democrats. As long as you are being racist and treating minorities worse than you're treating me, you have a free pass.

Yes, we know that the elite like Trump are simply playing them like puppets as they cut social policy that helps their families so they can fund more Tax Cuts to the super rich. But ultimately, it's the stupid versus everyone else.

As Trump famously said, "I love the poorly educated."

So, they're busy securing future wins as they cut social policy effecting education, health and wealth to the middle and lower classes, forcing them into servitude and desperation.

And as we now see very clearly, a desperate and dumb people can be easily manipulated against their own interests.

LordJim Whitaker was a salaried Board member in a company that scammed thousands of people out of their life savings. They specifically targeted veterans. The company has lost a civil suit with a court-ordered fine of $26 million. The FBI is now pursuing a criminal investigation of that company and its officers, including Whitaker. Whitaker has just been put in charge of the FBI.

LordJim IDK...this one...

“I could see a scenario where Jeff Sessions is replaced, it would [be a] recess appointment and that attorney general doesn’t fire Bob Mueller but he just reduces his budget to so low that his investigations grinds to almost a halt.”

...or this one...

“Mueller has come up to a red line in the Russia 2016 election-meddling investigation that he is dangerously close to crossing”

...or this one...

"Note to Trump's lawyer: Do not cooperate with Mueller lynch mob"

...or this one...

"My opinion piece today "Mueller's Investigation of Trump is going too far"

*IMPORTANT NOTE*  All of these people named (Jeff Sessions, Rod Rosenstein, Matthew Whitaker, Robert Mueller and "supposedly" Donald Trump) are all Republicans.

Ask yourself...who, regardless of political affiliation, is trying to uphold The Law in this situation?
