Trump Fails To Understand Sarcasm

Submitted by: holygod 1 month ago in News & Politics

Our president is like any number of right-wing, ill-informed, doddering old people in this country that sling around misinformation and memes in a bubble of arrogant ignorance, but we made this one President of the United States.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday fired off a tweet claiming Americans who protested against the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh were supposed to be paid ― and were angry that they didn’t get their money.

He also repeated that claim at a rally in Iowa Tuesday night, saying “phony protesters” were supposed to be paid “and now they want to protest because they didn’t get paid yet and they want their money.”

The only problem?

Trump’s claims appear to be based on an off-hand and sarcastic comment made on Fox News.

Recently Trump claimed Hillery colluded with the Russians during the 2016 run
She tweeted to him "Serously you begged the Russians to hack her emails on national TV"

thezigrat She (the DNC under her direct  command) actually paid Russians for alleged dirt, unlike the Trump campaign which is accused of seeking dirt but not actually paying for it OR getting any. That's an admitted fact.
Which one is collusion? Actually doing it or actually not doing it?

thezigrat She (through her DNC) paid Steele to get dirt from the Russians. Millions of dollars btw, over several months. Or provided the 'dirt' and paid Steel to 'verify' it with the authenticity of... Russian sources.

UK and Russia have a long history, the quickest and easiest way to get Russian intel is to ask the Brits, ok? This is pretty common knowledge...

I didn't say 'hack the DNC' did I? Nope not there... what is it with IAB Liberals and changing the subject lately? Man... this is related: there's proof Hillary did it, none at all that Trump did.

Anyhow: Who says the Russians hacked the DNC?
https://amgreatness.com/2018/07/13/julian-assange-crowdstrike-and-the-russian-hack-that-wasnt/

Podesta fell for a phishing scam, that's what really opened the can of worms. Without that? Most of the e-mail stuff would have been successfully hidden away forever. Crime accomplished.

thezigrat No. Absolutely not. That is a myth started long after the fact.

A Blog (allegedly "conservative" but not really) initially approached Fusion, but there's no evidence they even paid much, if any, money. They dropped the matter entirely. Then the RNC also engaged Fusion, with millions of dollars, and possibly a script of things they were looking to validate.
The RNC was under Hillary's total control at that point: all funding went through her camp.

Of course other Repub candidates were looking for dirt, that's called 'normal'. Hiring Russians, however indirectly? That's called 'collusion'; these days...

It's disturbing how quickly we have all just become accustomed to the POTUS just telling lies and not caring that everyone knows. Politicians have always lied, but at least they usually tried to pretend. Trump doesn't even bother with that. And that is the new normal.

So no wonder you are so confused.

And no wonder you continue to fail to learn from your dipshit faux-pas.

In either case: eat it you do not need to eat poutine, but I would, cause it's delicious.

I don't like playing bouncer.  I'd rather be at the bar flirting with the bartender for free hotwings, but I have to put my modhat on when the Community Standards/Guidelines are being breached.

I'm doing what I volunteered to do and that is keep this site from being rated-X and becoming a hostile environment.

Is an x-rating worse than a violence rating?

What is hostile, exactly? Have you thought about this?

I've been to nightclubs across the globe. From Thailand to Ibiza. Lemme tell ya: in some of them, there are girls (some who have penises, by the way, which is kinda hot...don't judge me bro) who rub you down in all the right places.

In others, if your fucking shirt is un-buttoned once, then you will not be granted admission. You won't even get in there, man!

Your community standards are culturally-based. And caters to a crowd that culturally meets the standards of your cultural identity.

IAB is global, yes?

Then that's racist bro.

If I can throw violence at someone for days, but the second I say the word "penis," and you get all fucked-up about it.

Dude.

You mods need to have a fucking conversation.

Because "my cock" is not the problem.

(I've been to Olongopo's bars where you can get a blowjob under the table where you and your buddies are sitting.  Awkward if you're the only female lol.)

Just picked the first anti-trump topic I came across to offer this off-topic link. Didn't take long to find one eh? :-/
Soon all this will be flushed down the memory hole. Historical revisionism will re-write it all to make Ford a hero and all the facts unrelated to reality. It actually started even before her "letter" came to light :-x
Exactly like what happened to Clarence Thomas, they tried to lynch him too eh? And he turned out to be a model Supreme...

Just imagine that? A Democrat Mob trying to lynch a negro? Why, that's just a "vast right-wing conspiracy" eh? Nothing remotely like that ever happened in all history! (Well, at least not after history was 'revised' to make KKK members into Republicans by some amazing twists of logic and reality, right NF2?)

OF COURSE the KKK was Democrats in the 1800s. OF COURSE slave owners were Democrats. OF COURSE the south used to be Democrats. Look at an electoral map lately? The party of the racist old white southerner is not the Democratic party any more. Get a fucking grip.

Why are you more concerned with what used to be the party of racists in 1910 instead of what is the party of racists NOW?

holygod The KKK were Democrats right up until the 1960's. The demographics of the entire South changed around that time and thus the people there (other than the KKK) started voting Republican more often. Simple facts:

No, I don't mean most republicans are white racists. I do mean most white racists are republicans, overwhelmingly so.

Also that link is gobbly gook propaganda written with no scholarly sources, links, or data and Dinesh D'souza is a straight up lonny toon. You have GOT to get away from this kind of misinformation. It is poisoning your brain.

holygod And this is proven by the complete lack of Repubs of colour, eh? Not merely hate-mongering propaganda from the DNC and MSM (sorry to repeat myself there).

Look at the utopias the Dems have built for coloured folks in cities across America! How well blacks did under Obama and how terrible things are now for them under Trump! One cannot draw any conclusion other than Trump is deliberately sending them to work at meaningful jobs out of sheer racism! Ditto for Latinos...

He wrote a book about it, and you claim he knows nothing on the subject... also he's literally insane (for disagreeing with DNC Dogma).
Ok then: nothing on any topic you disagree with will EVER get even a begrudging acceptance: outright rejection is all you will do. Thanks for being clear about it. You will attack anything linked, so don't bother asking any longer, ok? Find your own sources and if you are (as you frequently claim but I have rarely (not never!) seen) actually interested in the truth? YOU can go find the evidence in a fair and unbiased way. Not one thing I can do to change that, so why should I bother playing that game? Complete waste of time.

"I am thankful this week when I remember that America is big enough and great enough to survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House!"

So definitely the authority on racism in America.

Go ahead and quote where I said Democrat Mobs weren't responsible for Lynching.

Hint you won't find it.  Here's what you'll find I said CONSERVATIVES used to be prevalent in the Democratic party.  Democrats in the late 60's into the 70's decided to purge the Conservatives from the ranks.  They  mostly did, The Democrats in 1856 weren't the same Democrats the 1910's than the Democrats of 1980 on.  The parties have been here for a long time what's changed is who is in those parties.

Those Democrats that lynched back then are Conservatives that cling to the GOP COnservative wing today because they have NO PLACE in the Modern Democrat party. AT least at this time.  Who knows what the future holds.

Or it's "more real" than reality because she didn't offer enough evidence to convince you the real number is true? Or something?

gohikineko Ah, no, crazy person. What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet or stink as sour. There is no law or rule saying what your party believes, and it was changed when we were either unborn or still kids in the 1960's.

There was an ideological change in the Democrats, who used to be associated with the South (Read Gone With the Wind. All the Slave owners were Democrats, Lincoln was a Republican. Those two parties did not always exist, btw.) Democrats were adopted as the party of the working man and it gradually became a party of Liberals. Do some actual reading (not online) about the subject.

Well it's about expectations eh? I don't expect to change your mind on a subject, but do hope that you'll at least acknowledge the validity of (part of) my argument. Even if you disagree, eh? I mean I KNOW what you and other liberal-types think on most subjects: it's belted out by the MSM relentlessly and without ceasing (was that redundant? I don't think so but...). It's no mystery.

For a quickie example: all the charts and graphs the Pro-AGW side has put up lately show a temp rise of 0.8 to 1.0 between 1900 and 2000... that simply:
- wasn't "the end of the world", nor were the previous 5+ centuries of entirely natural global warming 'the end' either.
- is using their own 'altered' data making old data colder & recent data warmer, in secret, for no given reason, but still the change looks pretty mild.

To me (IMHO) this makes their claims of "the world burning by 2030" just another hysterical prediction: exactly like the last 8-10 AGW predictions which never came to pass either. How many times can the Boy Cry Wolf before we stop panicking? Where will this +1.5C come from? Temps fell for the past 20~ odd months... :shrugs:

And their solution? To do 2x (or 5X? 10X? I forget) more than the world (under Paris) is already NEVER going to do? Why not ask for the Moon on a plate too? Just as likely...

Anyhow, you can get the last word in if you like. I'll try to respect your topics wishes, but I'm only human feline after all, eh? >^,.^<

And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also."

You know about being a eunuch, doncha fuckfail? This one's particularly for you:

Leviticus 21:18-19

"
For any man who has a defect shall not approach: a man blind or lame, who has a marred face or any limb too long, a man who has a broken foot or broken hand, or is a hunchback or a dwarf, or a man who has a defect in his eye, or eczema or scab, or is a eunuch."

Sarcasm is an ironic or satirical remark that seems to be praising someone or something but is really taunting or cutting. So, in Bizarro Trump world taunting or cutting language is actually praise.  Now I get it.  Read him wrong all along.

The tweet was:

"The paid D.C. protesters are now ready to REALLY protest because they haven’t gotten their checks - in other words, they weren’t paid! Screamers in Congress, and outside, were far too obvious - less professional than anticipated by those paying (or not paying) the bills!"

Can a mod add his tweet to the post?

holygod It really bothers me when someone who should be highly educated uses the word "check" instead of "cheque"...but it is Cadet Bone Spurs, after all.

oobaka American's actually use that spelling??? New's to me. I still always use Cheque because that's the word and spelling I was taught in the UK. I was just under the impression all American's abandoned that spelling for the "Check" spelling years ago, since I've yet to come across an American who isn't bemused by my "Misspelling". (I hate it since that word has a totally different meaning to me) You seem to imply that American's with a higher level of education use the Cheque spelling as well? Well I'll be ... !!

demarc01 America dumbs down everything particularly words.
Here's the perfect example.
The word "literally" was being used incorrectly so often that, instead of trying to educate people, they decided to change the meaning of literally to mean "figuratively" as well as "literally".

oobaka Haha. That's a word I have argued over before. I don't care for the Hyperbole usage of it, but I can't argue that it was American's that caused that one. The word Literally has been used in the same context as figuratively since the 1700's. In fact both the OED and Webster's have used a duel definition since the very early 1900's.

So that one is on us Brits I think lol. When we have people like W. M. Thackeray, Charlotte Brontë and James Joyce using it in the same way as figuratively, hard to pin that one on the American's :))
