When The Rolling Stones Made History And Were The First Major Rock Band To Ever Play Cuba...

Submitted by: trimble 2 months ago in Entertainment

So this is just one song from an incredible Stones concert, the best I’ve ever seen especially considering their age. If you get the chance, see the entire thing, I’ve caught it twice now on Dish.

The audience is clearly overcome with joy and emotion as they see something they never thought possible, they are singing every word and hanging on every note – music they have known and clamored for all of their lives - dancing, crying, laughing and rocking. I love the Cuban people and to see them, young and old just so crazy into the music and the way it fuels the Stones to such a legendary performance is truly inspiring and is something you will never forget.

Here's a little more history on Havana Moon -- the documentary they made of this event.

I'm glad to see this submission go up, Trimble.

I saw your comment this past week. We really do make an effort to get most good submissions up on the website. There's a lot going on behind the scenes and most of us are working only odd hours on a volunteer basis. And occasionally, plain old mistakes occur. I was processing submissions yesterday and forgot that this submission of yours was buried in the queue; fortunately, Fancy seems to have remembered it today.

Occasionally, a mod who's working will take a pass on a particular submission for one of a number of reasons: (1) it's a complicated submission, with a lot of images or sources, and it's going to require an hour or more to edit and the mod doesn't have the time; (2) it just isn't a good submission and the mod feels most IABers would be bored by it; (3) it's a controversial submission for some reason, and the mod feels it needs to be discussed by the mod team; (4) it's about a topic that has already been covered by one or more posts, and the mod feels IABers may be tiring of the topic; (5) it's a post about a subject the mod thinks would be better handled by another mod, who has some expertise in that area.

If that moderator doesn't process the submission that day, overnight it will be buried under a dozen spam submissions ("Bangalore Call Girl Services Provides Top Quality," "Dr. Richard Gardner Offers Cosmetic Procedures In Greater LA," etc.), five or six bonafide submission by IABers, and all the submissions that were posted (published content and submitted content appear in the same queue; not ideal, but that's how it works). That original submission then gets harder to find. If the next mod on duty also takes a pass on the submission, it then falls two or three pages back in the queue and is easy to lose track of. Each day, it slips further and further back under more recent content, submissions, and spam.

If I had to guess, I'd say that when this submission of yours first came in, the mod who was working thought, "I'll leave this one for Fancy to do. He's the rock music expert around here." Twenty-four hours later, your submission was harder to find and it was overlooked. That's only a guess, of course.

Just trying to give you a glimpse behind the scenes. One thing I am certain of is that there was no intent to snub you by anyone on the team.

Beaverfever I just checked the queue for you and, alas, we don't currently have any spam submissions from them. But you're in luck! A Google search brought up a whole bevy of escort operations out of Bangalore, like this one.

Apparently, Bangalore is where it's at if you're looking for call girls. Who knew?

Not bad for a bunch of guys in their mid-70's.  I first saw the band in Toronto on their Steel Wheels tour -- I was 15 my mother was and still is as big of a fan as you can get.  I've gone with her to see them every time they have come to Toronto.  The last time we saw them was at Dessert Trip, California, in 2016.
