North Carolina Boy's Lemonade Stand Robbed At Gunpoint For $17

In some cities, it's called the cost of doing business. Welcome to the harsh reality of life, kid.

An excerpt from KHOU News: Deputies believed a teenager with a BB gun targeted Mark on Saturday afternoon. The young entrepreneur said he was saving up for a new lawnmower for his other business.

“I was selling lemonade,” said Mark. “I was already starting to close up.”

That’s when he was became a victim of a violent crime.

“I showed him my box, so I could give him change, and then he grabbed and showed a gun at me in the stomach and then ran away,” Mark told NBC Charlotte.

Mark’s father, Phillip, was shocked someone would target a young boy who was saving up to buy a new lawnmower.

“Completely blew my mind that something like this could happen,” Phillip previously told NBC Charlotte.

Union County deputies found a camouflage hat, a BB gun and a stolen metal tin in a trail of woods nearby.

“People are capable of a lot of things, but not robbing a child at a lemonade stand, that takes it to a new level,” said Tony Underwood, spokesman for the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

“I was thinking, ‘What is wrong with this guy?’” Mark told NBC Charlotte. “I thought nobody has ever robbed a lemonade stand with a gun.”

Investigators are still working to find the suspect. Meanwhile, Mooresville-based Lowe's heard about the story and gave Mark a new lawnmower.

“I got my riding lawnmower, and I’m so thankful, and everything is OK now,” Mark told NBC Charlotte. “It feels great, it feels like the hard work paid off.”

Mark said he has to figure out the new lawnmower and hopes to be using it in the next week or two.

He made $256 bucks the next day (with his parents guarding him closely, lolz!) and got a free $1100 riding mower from Lowes...
A suspect was seen on camera and arrested, a black juvenile who they aren't naming.

Just a good thing that no one got hurt. The kid's a trooper, has 3 jobs! His dad seems to have a good grip on things so they'll be OK.

It was probably a police officer collecting permit money.

This is what video games teach our children.  I speak from experience.  I used to play an online video game in which you built your own base that had characters maintaining the base by growing and harvesting resources.  It grew steadily, but alas at a quite glacially pace.  Enter the attack and pillage portion of the game.  You attack some other poor sucker's base and rip off his hard earned stuff.  That's where the real rewards came in.

Parents are selling their kids to pedophiles and this parent is shocked someone would rob their child?
How long has he been living on this planet?

a nine year old boy with not one but TWO businesses?  the kid is either a real go-getter or he has a worthless set of parents.

The parents should take advantage of this situation as a life lesson for the kid.
Sit the boy down and say "Now pretend you are an adult and you open a business
and the tax man comes along and takes your money.....

another example of the growing trend about not identifying suspects. A teenager that's all we have had a white kid black kid. how tall, what color his hair is... anything?

What do you think you would do with the information? You're not a bounty hunter, are you?

semichisam01 okay when a kid goes around killing neighborhood dogs and I see him come out your yard I'll make sure not to give a description. Because after all what are you going to do about it.

robthelurker It's Newspeak. Know what bothers me? Weather people using the term "real feels" instead of the old "heat index" and "wind chill factor".

trimble Never heard of "real feels" but I have heard of "Heat index" but only pertaining to basketball. I blame Bill Simmons.

Call my cynical but I wouldn't be surprised if no evidence of this was ever found, it's labeled as *unsolved* and dad got a free new riding lawn mower. A lemonade stand to raise funds for a riding lawnmower just seems off to me ... those things ain't cheap !!

demarc01 Lowe's already gave the kid a riding lawn mower.  The kid mows lawns to earn extra money.

NRA better donate a gun or something, that lawnmower would be worth WAY more than 17 bucks.
