Trump: "[Kim Jong-Un's] People Sit Up At Attention, I Want My People To Do The Same"

Submitted by: fancylad 7 months ago in News & Politics

While discussing North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Friday morning, Trump said he wanted Americans to react to him in the same way. "Hey, he's the head of a country, and I mean, he's the strong head, don't let anyone think anything different," Trump told Fox News' Steve Doocy. "He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same." The comment created a stir, but when asked about it later, Trump said he hadn't meant the comment to be taken seriously.

Trumpkins would be very happy if we all chanted "Sieg   Heil"   at the mere mention of his name

Meh Donald Drumpf said something without thinking about it first.  If you've been listening to him you know this is what he'd WANT if he could have it.  The only thing we can do now is ensure he's a 1 term President and we need to empty the House and Senate of Trump loyalists.  We need Congress to be guard against Trump and his autocratic tendencies.

Why is everyone making a big deal out of this?
Sitting up and paying attention is what you're supposed to do in business meetings.

Schrodinger's Douchebag - One who makes douchebag statements, particularly sexist, racist or otherwise bigoted ones, then decides whether they were “just joking” or dead serious based on whether other people in the group approve or not.

LordJim I was thinking the same thing. He tests the waters. If there is minimum backlash then he pushes it a little further. If he gets called out on it, it was just a joke.

Trump is just seeing the good in every situation.
For example the Nazi's were great at organizing. German efficiency!

It reminds me of when Trudeau said this about China:

"There's a level of admiration I actually have for China. Their basic dictatorship is actually allowing them to turn their economy around on a dime."

He later claimed it was "sarcasm".

I agree he didn't think he was going to get it. However these quips he makes about what he admires in other countries tells us a lot about him. He wants authoritarian power, blind respect, he wants big military parades.

Note he's not trying to change the system. That's not what he wants for all American presidents. He hardly came to attention for Obama.

These slips of the tongue reflect what is personally missing in his life; the things he thought he'd be getting as President and didn't.

Draculya I agree with much of what you said, except for the part about him missing abject obedience, in his life.  I think that rather he has surrounded himself with yes-men all his life, and now he is a yes-men party. But now he expects total obedience from the whole country and he is not getting it (and never will). All of it because he is a fucking buffoon who does not deserve respect. And also because he doesn't understand what America stands for, and never will.

If trump says one day "eat shit", Fox News and all the trumpies would start praising the nutritional value of eating shit.

(Funny thing, though...)
