The NRA Allows Secrent Service To Ban Guns At Convention To Protect The Vice President

Submitted by: normalfreak2 8 months ago in Funny Misc News & Politics

They have have allowed Guns in the past as you can see here.

According to The Daily Beast

Fred Guttenberg, the father of 14-year-old Parkland victim Jaime Guttenberg, wondered what happened to the NRA’s “good guys with guns” narrative. “According to the NRA, we should want everyone to have weapons when we are in public. … I thought giving everyone a gun was to enhance safety.”

I guess if we call for bans at schools that's not okay because of freedom but when the NRA wants to ban weapons it's okay?  GOT IT!  If good guys with a gun are the only defense against bad guys the whole NRA convention is full of good guys right?  Who has anything to fear?

The linked article isn't Fake News but this post is.

It is fake because it implies that the NRA isn't allowing guns at the conference when it is the secret service that isn't allowing guns at the conference.

Of course it isn't the job of the secret service to stop a mass shooting, only to protect the vice president. So, banning guns works great for them just not so great for the little people.

johncourage Okay so the NRA isn't banning weapons they are simply allowing the "secret service" to ban weapons.

So if a school states they are a gun free zone that's wrong because of what again?  What does Pence and company always state, a good guy with a gun is the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, why not allow everyone to have guns in there?  Hiding behind the "secret service policy is deciding this" is very convienent for them don't you think?

normalfreak2 But weapons aren't 'banned' at all: plenty of security and agents will have them, correct? Lawfully so, yes?
So... fake news! It's a fat lie in the headline and a fat lie in reality. NOT a gun free zone if guns are ALLOWED there! Not 'for everyone' because that's how it's been since JFK, MLK and RFK ok? Get it yet? :-)

And the DNC has plenty of guns protecting their conventions, why don't they set a better example?
And they require ID to vote in their primaries and stuff... just saying...

- Gun free zones don't stop people that plan on breaking the law from taking a gun there

- They should allow everyone to carry at the conference

- This policy is actually inconvenient to the NRA because the gun restriction is pointed out by everyone without all the facts. And the fact is that if the NRA and conference goers want to see Pence then they have to follow secret service rules. And of course the secret service won't change their policy because protecting the VP will be easier by limiting the amount of guns at the conference. Protecting everyone else isn't their mission.

Guns don't kill people.  It's the lack of guns to kill people that use guns to kill people, that kill people!

I thank the NRA. God bless them. In their infinite wisdom, the are teaching us that:
- making their place a gun free zone will certainly convince any bad guys to not bring guns to the building.
- in the odd case that a bad guy actually gets in (you know, there are criminals out there), the real good guys with guns will be there for all of us.
Who knew! There are rules for your kids, and there are rules for an old white man. And we shall always set aside our rights for an old white man's sake. Kids? Fuck the kids. My guns come first.
Hey, maybe we can try again at the RNC.

First, guns are banned at schools, only approved people can carry one. And there are still crazy people to go there to shoot people. The NRA convention is a one time event, very controllable, makes sense to ban guns to the general public, just makes sense. There are a lot of crazy people that may want to kill someone there.
I bet there still will be people there with guns to protect the hole area.

marsii   Sorry, but it is illegal to carry a gun in a Newtown school unless given permission by the state and the school board. And was that way before the shooting.

melcervini Again the mantra is Guns don't kill people people kill people.  Why won't the Secret Service and NRA stand up for the rights of all good guys to be armed to see the VP?  You can't possibly be defending this, unless you are a hypocrite that doesn't mind gun free zones.

melcervini Isn't the actual point of the NRA to keep the government from dictating your gun carrying?   Is this the point where you start killing government officials?  What happened to cold dead fingers?

daegog This is a venue not a national stance.  Same respect for the law handed down that says you cant take a firearm into a courthouse.  Security is already in place.  Its common sense, not infringement.

melcervini Once again Gun free zones are okay then assuming there's security already on site?  You can't be armed but the security can be?  I thought you pro 2nd ammendmen types didn't want ANY INFRINGEMENT!  Just to be clear you ARE okay with infringment?  So if there's security everywhere that infringment can apply everywhere?  Just so I'm understanding your position here.

normalfreak2 I'm not sure you understand. There actually is no infringement regardless of the SS. If there is a place that is a gun free zone, you can choose not to go there and be a target. easy peasy.

melcervini Fight for your rights!  Don't let the government tell you where and when you can bring a firearm.  The Secret Service says leave your guns at home and the NRA folds?  Not much of a militia.

If you went to an NRA convention expecting coherent and rational though... Well...  You're a fool.
Yes they're hypocrites. That won't change. They need to be kicked out of the lobby circle. Then common sense will prevail.

And now how many suckers are giving the NRA money even tho the NRA clearly doesn't trust them with weapons?

What happened to boycotting anyone that demanded a gun free zone?

Perfectly acceptable if the politics swing the left way, eh? Fakenews on IAB I mean.

marsii The NRA has said a number of very silly things, but they have never claimed that guns aren't dangerous.
They are right to make this move, but I'd say they deserve the roasting they're getting.

bubba5658 it's certainly not hard to figure "it" out. It, is any of the many forms of subservience that come so readily to the lock steppers.

bearbear01 Because if guns are allowed without any conditions, someone will certainly take a shot at the vice president. If some are allowed to carry, and others are not, there will be a riot.
If I were Pence, I would not come within range of anyone in the country except my bodyguards, and I am sure that was a condition for his presence.

bubba5658 If you look in your Roget's, you will find synonyms for 'riot' that describe what I intended, and others that describe what I believe you intended. And your point is clear.
That suggests to me that I made a poor word choice. Let me change it to uproar.

semichisam01 you mean, the Vice President is against the lawful right to carry as protected by our second amendment? Wow, I feel my rights are being violated. If there was only an institution that would protect them! And who had lawyers to defend their members when they exercise their constitutional right.

bearbear01 I assume you are being ironic. You know as well as I do that, in our oh-so-modern times there are principles, and there is getting something you want.

So the NRA will never give up its principles, unless it can get a
prestige-awarding visit from the Vice-President. And bible thumpin' haters of sin in all its forms will never give up their principles, unless a sinner can get them some supreme court justices.

I'm sorry that I'm leaving out left-wing groups. I'm just getting tired of thinking about this. Fill in your own names. None of them mean what they say, and they have contempt for any of us who think they do.
