How Art Conservators Clean Paintings

Baumgartner's philosophy is to alter the artwork as little as possible with respect to the original intention of the artist. He examines each work of art closely and tailors the methodologies to meet both the needs of the painting and client.

I was going to say that must be an incredibly stressful job. You could really screw up a painting, but there's probably lots of bleed over onto the edges where you can test the technique before you apply it to the front.

Lovely post, with a lot of great moments when grime was coming off the paintings and revealing the art beneath.

Sara, the four videos you've posted to date have focused on paintings, sculpture, dolls, and paper art. All excellent. I would be delighted if you were to become IAB's specialist in finding good content about the visual arts. You have a talent for the subject and no one I can think of at IAB is focusing on it. I hope you do.

How can he work with such detailed work and be completely blind to his huge unibrow?
Just use a pair of pincers!

A lot is at stake, but in the case of this restoration, it's more famous
now as a notorious fail than it was in it's original form.
