Dayanna Volitich, A Florida Public School Teacher Has A White Nationalist Podcast

Submitted by: daegog 9 months ago in News & Politics

Meet the true face of racism; manipulative, covert and insidious.

A Florida social studies teacher who allegedly hosts a racist podcast isn't quite history yet, but her school says she's been removed and she's under investigation.

In light of a report from the Huffington Post that detailed Dayanna Volitich's alleged online activities espousing white nationalist views — her most recent episode on Feb. 26 discussing how certain races are smarter than others — Citrus County School District announced that action was being taken against her Sunday.

The Human Resources Department was notified and an investigation was initiated immediately," Superintendent Sandra Himmel said in a statement regarding the district's response to the allegations.

"The teacher has been removed from the classroom and the investigation is ongoing. Pursuant to Florida Statute, an open investigation and materials related to it are exempt from public record and cannot be discussed until the investigation is complete."

To be exact, every race has advantages, it's nature. But to eyepop them it is racism. My opinion, good heart has no limits in color, gender, ...

markobarko "every race has advantages" - This is complete bull. A specific individual may have an advantage over others but we cannot be classified by our race no matter how hard people try to. We are all unique individuals.

markobarko The problem is that even if one can isolate two races with the totality of their members and point out characteristics that, in that totality, are more prevalent in one or the other, that still doesn't necessarily have a lot to do with the traits of a given individual.  It also doesn't account for the life-experiences that shape individuals into whom they become.

One doesn't have to use race to judge any person that one meets, that person's actions and choices will inform one soon enough.

Black and proud, good for you! Asian and proud, you should be! White and proud, fuck off yes I am! Stop with identity politics it's a distraction from all the rights they are trying to take away, like free speech and the right to defend yourself.

moldysod You should work to be proud of yourself as an individual and not because of some racial classification that has been thrust upon you. I would say that racial classifications themselves are racist.

Buh-Bye!

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out...

This chick is just stupid and should not be allowed to teach children on that fact alone.  If she really did get approached by the administration as she states in the Podcast, and lied about it, then they will sure as hell have a record of it...You're Fucked comes to mind...

I read some of the posts the Huffington Post had, I listened to a few minutes of the podcast - admittedly not an in depth investigation - what I read and heard, some of it vaguely true, some of it downright stupid, does not rise to the level of hate speech. It is offensive. It is negative. It is not hate speech.
Hate speech calls for the injury or death to a group or demographic. Hate speech dehumanizes.
Do I think that a kid from Stockholm and a kid from Port Harcourt city are going to right off the bat learn in the same way and at the same rate in a Gothenburg school system? Fuck no. But then, I'm pretty confident you send Sven on over to Abuja city, he's gonna struggle there for a while.
That ain't hate speech, that's common fucking sense.
Nobody - outside the legal system - with half a brain, really counts on I.Q. to mean a damn thing. Fish (Mostly)don't fly and birds(For the most part) don't swim worth a crap. Cultural upbringing along with innate cognitive abilities differ from group to group and person to person.
Should this woman be teaching? Nope. Just as people with liberal ideology should not be teaching their ideas. But by gosh and golly, nobody is getting outraged over some of the liberal bullshit being taught in schools.

captkangaroo Teachers should follow and encourage critical thinking.  I agree with you that people that have the views like this woman SHOULDN'T be teaching.  She has deep conflicts of interests that could and most likely have influenced how she can grade non white students.

normalfreak2 To be honest very few teachers should be teaching, if our teachers (and the curriculum) were better, we wouldn't have so many stupid people (most people in any given group).

Ms. Fancy, a public school teacher, won't even let me get near her if I'm smoking weed for fear of getting getting a contact high and then getting a random drug test at school, and this retarded bitch has a racist podcast about white nationalism.

fancylad Not sure of the comparison.

Any person is making a good decision to not introduce themselves into a situation that can cost them their job.

If your wife got caught with a proscribed illegal substance in her system, she could lose her job.  Smart woman, Ms. Fancy.

This woman was not so smart.  She was caught doing something that, while not illegal, makes her unacceptable to teach children.

Quite frankly, the bar for punitive action against teachers that spew political rhetoric, (on both sides) needs to be much lower that in is.

megrendel so in essence only free speech if you work in a private company? You guys love authoritarianism (you are allowed to say whatever you want in your free time, as long as that whatever you want fits the current political trends).

I thought this kind of nonsense was unique to scandinavians. We don't change views that often, but when we do, everyone does, and at the same time, like a school of fish.

Please feel free to peruse the 1st Amendment and consider who, exactly, it relates to. Pay close attention to the first five (5) words. "Congress shall make no law..."

Was Congress involved here?  No. So first Amendment does not apply.

But, please note she DID enjoy free speech.  She was not arrested, and is still free to blather as she likes.

But, free speech does not mean freedom from consequences, and her employers also enjoy Freedom of Association.  They are free to disassociate themselves from someone with whom they disagree, or makes them look bad.

You wouldn't expect McDonald's to employ a spokesperson that says publicly, "Big Macs taste like shit."   It would even be the truth, but they are under no obligation to employ such a person.

Plus, while you're at it, look into the definition of 'authoritarianism'.  I do not think it means what you think it means.
