Hey all, remember Elon Musk's Hyperloop project? The Hyperloop project that got Government Approval last month? Welp, it looks like he's been hard at work on making things happen. Here's what it's going to look like when you're traveling around 200 MPHs to and from work. Weeee!

Isn't this just a maglev train? I mean you can hear rattling and working so it's clearly not happening under reduced pressure... in which case we have had those for a very long time. They haven't takenn off because they're not efficient or affordable. How putting it inside a 100km long vacuum changer will change that I do not know. But this is musk all over, mostly just a pipe dream *cymbal*

ben_brackston Considering the phenomenal successes of both Tesla and SpaceX, I really don't understand why some people seem to delight in scoffing at Elon Musk.

Here are some reasons the Hyperloop will fail.

boredhuman Thunderf00t is a MAJOR naysayer. He says EVERYTHING is going to fail or is a scam.

I would like to see this become a reality. It would be great to hop over to another state for an afternoon. The bigger money I think would be in shipping, could definitely put trains in a bad spot.

I think it's more impressive that it went from 200 to 0 in 2 seconds...

Is this a demo from the full size tube or some matchbox thing they rigged up to look good?

daegog It's full-size (or close--certainly not Matchbox-size). You can see the size of the tunnel at the start of this video.
