The reason the 'moonrock' Nasa has tested is so like Earth rock is pretty obvious. It IS Earth rock.

Quite an elaborate explanation for something that has been well understood for quite some time. The reason that the same side of the moon always faces earth is that the moon is tidally locked. It's a common configuration because it's center of mass is slightly offset from it's geometric center. Its heavy side faces the earth for the same reason that a ball that's heavier on one side will tend to come to rest on a table with the heaviest side at the bottom.

Also, the reason for the difference in the number of craters is that the earth acts like a gravitational lens that bends the paths of asteroids, comets, and meteors so that the near side actually received MORE large impacts than the far side. These larger impacts in the late stages of lunar formation broke through the crust allowing lava to flow out onto the surface and form the maria that we see from earth.
