CreamK, are you serious?

Everything you mentioned is available on linux. Windows is horrible. The fact that people still 'think they need to run Windows' for ANYTHING is ridiculous. I haven't owned a windows box (on purpose) in 6 years. In fact I migrated all my kids to (?)Ubuntu's and was teaching them how to use it so they wouldn't have to rely on windows subparness.

A lot of Windows software can be run on Linux, but obviously not all. I ended up installing Ubuntu as a second OS on my computer along with Windows. I only use Windows when I really have to when compatibility issues make hings frustrating.

Would love to install Ubuntu but i need my windows softwares that i paid good money on.. When/if Reaper goes to linux then i may switch one of my computers to it, maybe (still not nearly enough plugins, instruments etc in linux..)

Just face it, if you are doing anything else but browsing the web, word processing or spreadsheets, Ubuntu is not the OS for you.. Music, video editing, photo editing, 3D modelling, game design... Linux just doesn't have tools needed and i need all of them.

I installed Ubuntu on my mother's computer as well. I love it; sleek pretty interface, easy to use, and the load times are near nothing.

As the pic shows, poor computer management skills are not a matter of age. I keep my PC running clean as a whistle; however, I have stepped in dog$#!+ a time or two, usually because I'm in a hurry and not paying close enough attention. When that happens, I clean the mess up myself while I plot the deaths of the bastards who left it there for me to step in.

Is everyone's parents incapable of preventing a massive PC infection? Is that just an inevitability of age, like high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes? In 50 years, is my Google internet enabled implant going to get infected thereby preventing me from walking?

lol. Whenever my stepdad's computer gets like this I have to remind him to delete his browsing history before I'll start working on it. Ever since a very embarrassing time when I showed him which sites on his history he was getting the adware from.
