I use clear nail polish to keep my metal eyeglass frames from discoloring from sweat and contact with my skin. If you have metal allergies you can coat jewelry with clear nail polish as well.

I can't see how putting petroleum jelly on the threads of a light bulb would be a good idea. Seems like a new and exciting way to start a house fire.

Rub petroleum jelly around and under your fingernails before working on your car, and it will be much faster and easier to wash up afterwards.
A hair dryer is great for starting a BBQ fire fast. As soon as the starter burns off, hit it with the hair dryer. In 2-3 min it will be hot enough to cook; in 5-6 min it will be hot enough to forge steel.
Keep your auto registration and proof of insurance in a zip-lock sandwich bag.
Put 2 layers of wax paper between hamburger patties before freezing them in a stack.
