Testifying Officer: "Well, your Honor, after interviewing Ms. Carmium I determined she owned a Red Hoodie and was unable to account for her whereabouts so Ms. Carmium was arrested and her home searched.
Even though we never found the money from the robbery, the other contraband collected during the search is more than enough to prove her guilt."

THAT is why you don't talk to the cops. They are NOT there to help, they are there to make an arrest or write a citation, NOTHING MORE. And they don't care who it is just so long as it gets done.

That's nice, ferdyfred. In the US, it's like this:

US Police Tactics

And that's if you are lucky.

axeman929: Fleeing and eluding is definitely a crime, doesn't matter id you did nothing else wrong. They will definitely chase you, knock you onto the ground and toss you into the back of a squad car, regardless.

You might beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride.

And if you are not doing anything wrong...you can run away in some cases. How is a cop or anyone else endangered by someone running away.

Pretty good advice if you are engaged in something that might potentially be a crime or not. If your are not doing anything wrong why roll over for the government. You are what is wrong with this country. You are why the constitution means nothing in some places. Plus your time is valuable. And if you are doing something wrong doing these things preserves the issues of suppression for a later date. The time you are detained or questioned by a cop is your time not the states.

"Am I free to go?" The advice is if the cop says yes, walk away. I dunno, how about you help him with whatever inquiries he's making instead of being a snot? Maybe he's after someone dangerous and just wants to know if you saw a guy in a red hoodie!

Dunno whats its like over in the US
but here in Blighty, be polite, and respectful
and for most minor offences you will just be cautioned, be a arsehole, then you will get arrested

Everything made sense right up to the LGBTQ one...at which point it became just PC Bull.

Here's a clue. Act respectable, don't be an asswipe.

Better yet, don't do anything so that you get apprehended by the cops. It's actually very simple.

The number one tip should be DON"T RUN.

Rather obvious, i know, but it had to be said.

I'm not sure this site is the best place to get legal advice about how to handle cops.
