I'll just encourage people to really learn what Christians are about before you judge.

Christians vary wildly. Some are decent people who therefore ignore most of their own religion. Some aren't.

The only thing that is common to all Christians is their belief in the absolute authority of some stories created by unknown people in the bronze age and their belief in the partial modification of those stories by unknown people between 1500 and 2000 years ago. They consider that authority to apply to everyone (although not all of them try to force it on everyone). Their religion is wildly dangerous because it ascribes absolute authority to whatever they want, explicitly including pretty much everything bad. Their god is a violent psychopath. Their approach to everything is disturbingly irrational because it places faith and obedience above evidence and reason.

I judge them on what is true about them.

I dont know... getting SO excited about a CUP that jesus drank from... you can find better ways to waste your time.

Especially as the whole thing is a late medieval fiction. The holy grail doesn't appear until the courtly romances (i.e. fictional stories) of the late medieval period and it was created as a plot device. Authors needed a reason for their characters to go questing, so they made one up. It has no more connection to Christianity than the Indiana Jones film, which used the same thing for the same purpose. The "original" grail wasn't even a Christian relic - it was a magic plate not specifically connected to any religion.

It never ceases to surprise me how little most theists know about their own religion.

@papajon0s1 (new nick?)
fyi: The Mafia builds playgrounds and shelters in their neighborhoods. The Yakuza often provides earthquake disaster relief. Pablo Escobar notoriously spent millions on parks, schools, stadiums, churches and housing for the poor.

Evidence an organization does good things is not evidence that the organization is good.

"the Catholic church I go to had an emergency blood drive last night. Just saying, generalizing is very dangerous. "

Both the Hell's Angels and the Satanic Church have had blood drives. That doesn't mean they're groups I would join. ... just sayin

Well, I'll respond to all the hate in these comments with compassion. I'll just encourage people to really learn what Christians are about before you judge. i.e. the Catholic church I go to had an emergency blood drive last night. Just saying, generalizing is very dangerous.

To be fair to the grail theorists I think the idea is that a basic cup has been surrounded and overlayed by bling, rather than it being that ostentatious at the time.

Lord Jim speaks the truth, the holy grail is fiction and unrelated to Christianity.

For someone who preached modesty and selflessness, that's a pretty blinged-out cup.

I don't believe that is the Grail any more than you do; but they're suggesting that only the top portion is the grail. The bottom part and gold adornment were added later.

The story of the grail is twelfth century and t was not a cup but a salver.

There is a tradition of a holy chalice used at the Last Supper; there are two (implausible) candidates, but neither are claimed as authentic
by the Vatican.

Just the old story of bigging up a 'relic' to increase income from the gullible.

It's amazing how much bible thumpers believe in their own talking burning bush and 3 day old zombie fearless leader, yet a guy who is down on his luck asking for food or a job gets to see the underside of their collective noses.

Mabey I've been watching Indiana Jones too much but that doesn't strike me as the cup of a carpenter and poor man.
