@thubanstar: Um, WHO do you think owns the "green" companies making billions off the AGW scare? The same people who own the OIL companies! You think they're idiots? They KNOW how to make money, they've been doing it for decades!
They aren't "oil" companies, they supply "energy" and it really doesn't matter what kind, as long as it makes a profit.

There will ALWAYS be demand for oil, gasoline and natural gas, PERIOD. Unless Star Trek type technology is discovered? It's here to stay.

Meanwhile, the POOR pay the RICH who make huge profits selling "green energy" which might actually be WORSE for the environment... great idea bro!

People... listen up.

We can debate all we want on the climate. But, consider this. Who has to gain by telling us all it's "natural"? Big oil. Who has to gain by asking boats and cars and factories to clean up their act and let us have cleaner air and water and land? WE ALL DO. If someone is trying to make deadly gasses LESS, perhaps you should either 1. agree that this is a good thing, or 2. Go live in China and breathe the air that's killing people over there.

"...what would motivate someone to lie about climate change?"

Ask those that have been caught lying about it repeatedly. I would suggest money, career advancement, acclaim, prominent positions, authority, governments listening ...

Then there is noble cause corruption which we know has happened and confirmation bias. They think they are right, so they only see what confirms this. Then they break the rules of science because they think their cause is just and important. They refuse to share data for others to check their work, they hide the decline, corrupt peer review, they unilaterally declare the science settled.

No-one says global warming is a hoax. The planet warmed from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. It warmed at the same rate as previous warming in the early 20th century which cannot have been caused by CO2. The hoax is that the models work, so can be used to identify the cause. They do not.

Pretty much propaganda, as tsiemens says.

Draculya needs to visit the real world occasionally if he thinks that good, cheap healthcare is easy or that commercial interests are more of a problem than government regulation.

As for 4, warming is a fact, nothing else on that slide. Its impact so far is negligible, future impact recently estimated by the alarmist IPCC as 0.2% to 2% GDP. How can warming at natural rates cause a travesty?

We were not driving cars in 1700! We did not release enough CO2 to matter until the 1940s, but the Earth has been warming since the mid 17th century so they had to imply that our influence started far earlier.

A particularly bare-faced lie is that each decade has been warmer. Note it is the way people try to hide the current pause in warming, by only looking decade by decade.

These are not controversial topics. These are topics about which everyone who disagrees with me is simply wrong.

And while a death penalty is fundamentally wrong I also agree there are worse things in the world than executing people rather than rehabilitating them, even people wrongly convicted. It's certainly worse than early-term elective abortion but not as bad as income inequality. It's all relative.

9 - unless a baby is self aware and capable of the same kind of intellectual capacity possessed by animals who don't have the right to life, then IMO there are worse things in the world. Up to the 3rd trimester it should be woman's prerogative, but if the father doesn't agree to her keeping it at this point, his total liability should be limited to half the cost of a late-term abortion (less any insurance cover)
10 - I have no problem with stem cell research or application

6 - good, fast and cheap healthcare isn't hard to do; it's only hard to do if you avoid harming vested commercial interests.
7 - any plastic surgery not designed to repair damage or fix a deformity is stupid. However, people can do what they want to themselves and I am a bit turned on by the idea that a girl would go under the knife to please me. I wouldn't marry someone that messed up, genetically deficient or fraudulent, but she can cut herself however she wants.
8 - that's shameful. It's shameful enough that the poorest countries aren't 100% literate, but the US?

... still more

lay out your position on all these topics:

1 - let consenting adults do whomever/whatever they want.
2 - one man's freedom fighter is another's terrorist. Quit arming them, USA.
3 - A death penalty is fundamentally wrong.
4 - Global warming is a fact, and the impact is a travesty.
5 - ALL drugs should be legal.

... continued

Wow must be really bad nowadays to be a female between 16 and 19. Good job "grammarcheck.net".

Yeah, let's all jump on the AGW bandwagon!
The science is settled! No need to do any more research!! Just tax carbon, the entire Earth will cool down!!!
In a pig's eye it will...

@thubanstar: The latest IPCC calls it "global warming" many times, so your point is immaterial.
The Earth has been warming steadily since The Little Ice Age, humans have nothing to do with it.

@monsterzero & @TheZigRat: Palm trees grew in Antarctica only 10,000 years ago, not "millions" It was exactly where it is now, not drifting. It was due to air currents, mostly, BUT proves beyond any doubt that the "climate" changes WITHOUT human intervention. Period.

@Denogginizor: Exactly! It has to be "human caused" in order for AGW proponents to claim we humans can "fix" the weather. If we didn't CAUSE the warming, how could we possibly END it? Impossible.
So ALL GLOBAL WARMING supporters believe it's caused BY HUMANS. Otherwise why would we humans change anything? It won't make a spitball's difference if it's 100% Mother Nature.

Add to the mix: many "fixes" actually make things worse? Yeah, lets

The real debate isn't if global warming is happening, it's the cause. If mankind is to blame or not.

"...Russian/Ukrainian land swap and missing airliner..."

This infographic was made on Feb 5, 2014. The Malaysian Airlines flight went missing on March 8, 2014 and the Russia/Ukraine thing didn't really blow up until late Feb or early March.

I'll admit I didn't think it out all the way through.
But it did give me a chance to scream out "PALM TREES IN ANTARCTICA!"

Yup. Nailed it. Those are definitely the top 10 - I confirmed all their references at the bottom and everything. I guess this whole Russian/Ukrainian land swap and missing airliner are 43rd and 88th respectively, which is probably why they get so little coverage in the news.

thubanster - I'm still waiting for that more extreme weather. So far, this is the quietest period of hurricanes in US history. And tornados are also down.

RobSwindol - I really want the day when somebody will defend Obama without invoking Bush. It really highlights Obama's weakness if the only thing your crowd can come up with is Bush. Whatever happened to the biblical hope that was promised in 2008? You guys were so into him, almost like a romantic attachment, what happened to you guys? Look how far you've fallen.

"In the 1700s humans began emitting more fossil fuels to run our cars, trucks. . ."

Besides, the source of energy before coal was even more polluting - ordinary fire. So why stop at 1700s?

"A little more than a year ago they found fossils of palms trees in the antarctic. PALM TREES IN ANTARCTICA!!!
I think this proves climate change is real and there's nothing we can do about it.

All that proves is Plate Tectonics something known for decades

If it happened a few million years ago without us on the planet, it's going to happen again whether we're here or not.

Did you conclude that NASA invents data because to have the expertise to personally check the figures or because somebody told you so?

May I ask what your position is on a) the moon landings. b)9/11. c)Obama's birth. and d) UFO's?
