10Bears: You did miss something - the end. He wanted to keep the nature of the manila obvious and so painted full markings in clear gloss.

Some lucky girl will find a 24 yr-old virgin a special treat.

For me the line between slight but endearing autism and stupidity was crossed when he dropped out of college.

Did I miss something? He seemed to do some very intricate masking, and then spray paint it exactly the same colour! What was that all about?

I could make a 1/60 scale airliner seat if I had a reason to. But it's making dozens of them that would get a big "nope" from me. To me it would be soul-destroying! People who do this repetitive, painstaking work for enjoyment have a special gene that few others inherit.

@ Gerry: I think I share your sentiment on "Forever Alone"--but I'm surprised it's coming from the direction of IAB's resident model-builder. I thought you'd be all gaga over this guy's skills.

erik,
"Why did he bother? "

This is what you do when you are Forever Alone.

Why did he bother? That was the dumbest thing ever.

I admire the kid for his dedication and brilliance in the intricacy and detail of this model. Truly this hybridizes the areas of science, art and skill.

But becoming so obsessed with it that he drops out of college to work on this thing? Come on.... hope he can eat that model once he's done.

Very well done. If he doesnt' get a job at least he'll get laid when he says, 'Hey wanna see my Boeing?"

After all that, did he paint it the color of a Manila folder?

Just watched some of the videos on his YouTube channel. If you're going to pick one, I'd suggest the video on the thrust reversers (link below) that he built for his model's engines. It is almost superhuman what this guy is doing. Superhuman or mad, I haven't decided which.
