Stormith are you responding to me? I'm not saying it mattered, caused it, etc. did you read what I wrote? I must be bad at communicating.

It literally doesn't matter at all if he was gay or not. It's not like he went there looking for a date. Typical homophonic male crap.

Codejockey no we're not saying that. if every crime a homosexual committed stated that fact along with the crime, people's minds would associate the two together. Like "catholic priest" and molestation. do you know how much molestation occurs every year? What % are by catholic priests? Very tiny. What if they cherry pick the 18 that were done by homosexuals and say "a homosexual man molested a young boy" for all of those cases in 18 separate stories? (I'm not saying the number 18 is true, I don't know what it is, but I hope you where this is going). The point is what is NOT reported is as important as what is reported. Media has the ability to associate any group with any trait. They can also not make that association by leaving out the fact of which they belong to. It shapes minds - not that one causes another.

Unless you're making the argument of 'an ounce of man-butter and a dab of lithium would have made all the difference,' I don't see where it matters.

To go deep into that can only hurt people who've already lost.

5cats I realize that, it's to condition the population to associate one thing with another. If you say " a Christian fundamentalist" murdered 3 people every time it's a Christian but leave out what the the person believes (or lacks belief) when it's not a Christian, there is the illusion that Christian fundamentalist are dangerous, which is the goal. Imagine if headlines read "an atheist did x" or "a homosexual did y" or even "a person who never went to church" every time someone of that persuasion committed a crime (and yes, they do happen, they're not faultless people), there would be mental association of that group and the crime. The media is careful with what they correlate/ignore.

@paperduck: Exactly!
Every single time, without exception, the FIRST thing the typical MSM wonk says is:
Is he right-wing? A Tea Party member? A Republican?? White? Christian?
They speculate -wildly-! And always the exact same way.

Once the facts come out? Lefty, vegetarian, not political (or a Dem supporter in some cases)? Suddenly those things "don't matter".

News reporters should report FACTS! And not "filter out" things they have biases about.

I think we can all agree on that, eh?

Neither video games nor sexuality had anything to do with the enormous problem of giving unfettered access to extremely dangerous weapons to a person with several mental and emotional issues.

Further, to in any way suggest that sexuality or video games had anything to do with this, other than falsely attributed causation theories from weak minds, is to ignore the tens of millions (or more) people who are gay and play video games and *don't* go shredding up dozens of children into pulp. This is not a topic for glib, conspiracy theory asshattedness.

Lets say he was a really religious Christian guy, would all of you say "that isn't relevant" or would you tie religion to what he was doing somehow and bash Christianity?

And @WhoDat illustrates exactly what my point is: biased reporting based on political leaning is perfectly "allowable" to liberal leftists.

@DFWBrysco: So you argue that the official governmental inquiry isn't relevant or important? Why not?

Read It For Yourself

Remember how the MSM trumpeted about how he played "violent video games"? You know what his favorite game was?
Dance Dance Revolution.

I've heard people claim there has NEVER been a gay mass murderer... I'd say that's because the MSM embargos ANYTHING which might harm their "protected" groups. Even when a killer is clearly gay? It is simply never mentioned.
Jeffrey Dahmer ring a bell? There have been others too.

Gays are just the same as straights, capable of the same crimes too.

All it took was clicking on the link and seeing what "media" source this was from, and I knew it was a post by 5Cats.

Why am I not surprised?

His crime had nothing to do with his sexual orientation.

He didn't go crazy because he was gay. He wasn't gay because he was crazy.

The point here is that the media is selective in the facts it 'deems' relevent. He had files relating to pedophilia, homosexual fantasies and mass murder. It hasn't made the news reports.

Can you honestly say that had there been files on his computer relating to Rush Limbaugh, the Republican Party or the NRA, it would have been equally 'deemed' not important? (That would be Hell to the No).

"The point is: how 'selective' the MSM can be when facts don't fit their propaganda."

"If he had been religious, or an NRA member? THAT would be front page news!"

IF... IF, he had been an NRA member, that information would have been RELEVANT TO THE CRIME HE COMMITTED, which involved the use of FIREARMS.

5cats - Explain to us why it matters, and what your point is, please.

Trying to understand the logic is entertaining. Like a really tough sudoku or crossword puzzle.
