I would agree that this may present problems during heavy rain or snow. It would seem that a lot of it would get into the car, plus when the window drops.
Also, as a former firefighter, I can see where conventional tools and removal techniques would not apply. Additionally without the B post, the integrity would be compromised in a side impact accident.

these would be great for those days that its pouring outside and all you want to do is make a fast break for the car. Don't forget when it snows and you left your snow brush in the car!

I wonder about the safety of this thing. Side impact test? Some manual way to open the door in an accident or during a loss of power? Without more info, it just looks like a really cool door that is a really bad idea.

What's it look like on a Dodge Grand Caravan?

This would help the paparazzi no end in getting those upskirt shots.

I'd feel safer in the BMW version.
I think gull wing is best. You can always cut it open.

The only practical use would be for kicking unwanted riders in the passenger seat out of the car.

My Dodge Grand Caravan does something similar to this and I can still use it with no power. With this, no battery = no getting out. So... FAIL

The BMW Z1 had a door that looked like this. This BMW was produced in the 90's.

That's pretty slick of them! A great idea for any or all cars, really.

"Why did this not catch on?"

Saftey: Side impact crashes.
& What do you do if your battery is dead? There were no door handles to manually open it.

But yeah, very cool looking.

Those will be wonderful when it's raining heavily or snowing. Your interior panels will get more soaked that they would on a standard door. Oh and then there are the issues of returning to your car to find someone has parked too close to you. You either end up waiting until they return or scratching up both cars by banging your door into the other car. There are plenty of other potential problems too.

Feckin' brilliant.
