@CJ, the Mercedes version is actually a flat, horizontal display on top of the dash in front of the driver that uses the windshield as a half-reflecting mirror. It might be possible to do that with a helmet, but the problem is that the face shield too close for your eyes to focus on it and the road at the same time. Additional optics would be required to make the image appear to be much farther away.

That's apparently what they've done here but on a very small scale. That little box in the corner IS the entire display. Doing it for a full field of view would be extremely difficult, not to mention expensive.

"I think I'm the only one here "
I understand perfectly how HIS works.
There's more than one mechanism to remove the epidermis of a feline.

-Less mechanism in the helmet. I LIKE Google Maps.
-Add an interface with the bike. I'd be surprised if there's not already a standard above OBD-II. Seems like it'd be something racers like.

I kinda like the way things are going with nearly-one-device life.
Not to mention, it'd get rid of that big-assed fender on the helmet...

I think I'm the only one here who understands how this thing works.

Currently, I use a Motorola Photon Q and Sena SMH5 with vox over helmet speakers, the sum of which kinda feels like Sync when using Google Maps.

I want to try to iron out projecting a heads up onto the visor:
-Lower right, rear view.
-Lower left, unnumbered analog tach then, a digital or analog speedo.
-Lower mid, blue-green turn-by-turn instructions (if Maps even has an SDK.)
All adjustable translucence.

Either BMW or Mercedes has a similar system available in their cars. It includes night vision.

@CodeJockey - forget my last comment - just reread yours and realised what you meant! :)

@CodeJockey - aesthetically I'd agree with you, but for practical reasons it's probably best they're at the top; if you're about to turn you want to see an car that might be close behind you. Having the signals at the bottom corner of the screen might obscure the view?

Only thing I don't like is the turn arrows are in the rear view screen.

What I want are my instruments in the lower left.

If you go to 1:12, you can see that the only screen is the little inset. Everything else is just your normal field of view. I reckon you could place the heads-up screen on the lower left if you like, but all the information from the system will be displayed in that small area.
