You did the exact same thing that you did before but are to ignorant to see it, again we are laughing at you.

Again the protest was not about corporations that produce actual products, again you would have known this if you paid the minimum amount of attention to a viewpoint that wasn't yours. The protests are about financial corporations, you know the ones that produce precisely nothing but instead gamble with money and operate to create huge debt netting them more cash while drating over the people and society. You replied with further b/s about products and university not knowing that this had nothing to do with anything we were talking about. Again maybe look into the things you are passionate about before you speak out loud in a public environment otherwise you just look like an uneducated mouth-foaming reactionist.

The concern was the greed of FINANCIAL corporations, which you would have known if you had paid the least amount of attention to a view that wasn't your own.

YAAAAA MAAAN!! Down with the corporate greed! By sitting in front of a university....

I would not want to suggest vigilante justice, because it is illegal, no matter how satisfying and cathartic it may be.

McGovern that picture is retarded. Not only is it a strawman but it is missing the point entirely, almost as if you paid no actual attention to OWS and rather just ate up the crap that the mainstream media fed into your mouth, which would explain the avatar. The concern was the greed of FINANCIAL corporations, which you would have known if you had paid the least amount of attention to a view that wasn't your own. You didn't though and now you just showed everyone how much of an idiot you are. Keep on truckin'.

So he gets compensation for emotional suffering resulting from his own actions? That's a new level of stupid coming from the courts.

@McGovern1981,
If they had tried to move a protester and were physically resisted there would be, I think, good justification for the pepper spray. They were sitting down. They were making a lot of noise (oh, my god, open fire!). There appeared, as far as I could see, to be no attempt to remove them before they were sprayed. That's really where my disapproval comes from.
That cartoon, by the way, is pretty much perfect. For many of the protesters, anyway.

They were threatened with arrest, not a chemical assault on their eyes.

Have you ever seen an arrest when the person who refuses to cooperate where that didn't happen?

so these kids, who bought into the romance of demonstration, were protesting over something trivial (not exactly the civil rights movement was it? but its 'cool; to demonstrate right professor?) and decided it would be a good idea to surround the police and issue them an ultimatum. They got what they deserved. No, what they deserved was the police to use their night sticks to clear the way; they got off lightly,

@vonKaiser,
Watched the video. Here are some points.
1) It says the protesters are moving toward the police while only showing the police. It may be correct but there's no objective proof. Could have said they unleashed Martian Death Robots on them, with that much evidence.
2) It says the protesters are marching toward the police holding area for the arrestees. The protesters announce they will peacefully march and make no other aggressive moves.
3) It says the protesters were warned several times of what will happen. They were threatened with arrest, not a chemical assault on their eyes.
4) At no time is an officer seen trying to cross their line to certify that they are unable to pass.

Were at least some of the protesters a-holes? Undoubtedly.
Was that cop being abusive by spraying seated protesters, posing no actual threat, in the eyes with a caustic chemical? Also undoubtedly.

What exactly were protesters trying to accomplish with this besides being highly annoying?

You refused to move and were interfering with other peoples lives over a completely vague "statement" and got pepper sprayed....

Zap,
Try not to be too big an idiot. Ludicrous or not, their's was a peaceful demonstration. It was appropriate that it was peaceful. It was appropriate that it was on campus. It was your a-hole, conserva-f*ckwad "peace" officer who made the real problem by being grossly inappropriate. It's because of him that the students were paid a settlement. It's because he's a crybaby that he's getting paid. Your comment essentially says that you think people shouldn't protest anything since the protest might not be effective. That's just moronic. And, at your age, what the hell do you think you know about "hippies"? Whatever your conserva-d-bag father told you?

I hope this result teaches those kids a lesson they won't forget: "Hippies say they want to save the world, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad. Hippies." Their ludicrous sit-in, which accomplished nothing against their target, caused the university to raise tuition because it now has to pay the former officer and these stinky liberal d-bags.

What that a$$hole should get is free room and board for a few years...in jail! The poor dear. Emotionally distraught at being thought of as an abusive police officer. I mean, really, all he did was spray about 20 kids, HAVING A PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION, with an eye-burning chemical.
