CaptK: "..citizenship carries responsibilities.
Devising unique ways to avoid them and patting yourself on the back for your cleverness illustrates a mind set of a 'taker'- and is just plain sad."

Agreed, Americans shirking their responsibilities has led us into one hell of a mess. If you duck out of jury duty you are doing a disservice to your fellow citizens.

And if you ever are in need of a decent jury and all you get are a bunch of idiots, and you ducked out of jury service before, then you deserve the jury you get. And the rest of us that have done their civic duty, on jury duty, should get better jurors. It's only fair.

I've never been chosen for jury duty. Seems like it would be interesting.

Somehow I always seem to avoid jury duty.. Probably has something to do with always being called testify on behalf of the state.

Speaking strictly for America- Hell, for any nation of freedom(More or less), citizenship carries responsibilities.
Devising unique ways to avoid them and patting yourself on the back for your cleverness illustrates a mind set of a 'taker'- and is just plain sad.

@ Slut Etta - I remember her. She refused to wear anything else and was dropped. I love me some Trek but it's just a show!

I like jury duty. I thought it was kinda fun. I was summoned for the grand jury once. Nothing like a sheriff showing up at the front door to serve the summons. That puckered my butthole a bit.

years ago, a young woman was summoned for jury duty at the federal court house in little rock. she showed up in her Starfleet uniform and was promptly excused.

Just show up wearing an "I <3 George Zimmerman" t-shirt.

I hear if you tell them that you can't convict someone on eyewitness testimony alone they'll let you off.

If that's true, then it's a shame that anyone CAN be convicted on eyewitness testimony alone.

"Alternate caption: How To Get Charged With Contempt."

What you do is fill it with righteous religious fervour. It's plain that you're trying to prove yourself unworthy of making important decisions, but your right to do so for religious reasons is constitutionally protected.

All I've ever had to do is tell them that I was wrongly convicted for causing a wreck because a police officer committed perjury on the stand. Of course, that's not nearly as awesome as this, but it happens to be entirely true.

It's funny in a way, and just disgusting in another.
