Went by too fast to see the changes, if any.

Well, I was wrong. The USA doesn't have parks bigger than England. But it does have a hell of a lot more spare land.

As for "Marxism"...development on the railways themselves slowed down after they were privatised. Service dropped and prices increased. Which is to be expected when the primary purpose changes from providing a service to providing as much money as possible for the few at the top.

I think that essential national infrastructure should be nationalised.

The sameness is amazing. Truly a sad statement about the decline of a once great nation - virtually no progression in the last 60 years that I could see. Too bad the US is now following the same Marxist regression pattern as the UK.

There's a train you should catch - it's called the clue train! Choo-choo, it's coming for you!

The UK is nowhere near Marxist and never has been, not even in the days of the old labour party.

Some areas are deliberately unchanged, protected by law. Look at the size of the UK - we need to protect the countryside we have. That's especially true in SE England (where this is) because it's extremely heavily developed and densely populated. We don't have the millions of square miles of spare land that you have. You have parks bigger than my country.

No progression in the last 60 years...genuinely funny.

Glad you liked it 5Cats and ferdyfred! It was lucky find when I was down a rabbit hole one day. I couldn't concentrate on all three at once, so kinda had to stop and move back every once in awhile when something interesting/different went by. Fun to see the similarities and differences.

"Too bad the US is now following the same Marxist regression pattern as the UK."

The British railways are privatised.

So, well done...you just insulted capitalism, not communism.

If you're going to bother doing a timelapse comparison over 60 years - why the hell use a subject that is known to rarely change, like a frickin railway!?

@SmagBoy1: I LOVE this sort of thing! Thx for sharing!

@Jake_Justice: I thought that too. It's all sort of "a blurr" eh?

@AvatarJohn: I was thinking that too, but then I thought: Well, there's a "buffer zone" along the sides of (most) rail lines that simply do NOT get "developed"! Inside the cities would be different, but this is mostly rural, so the lack of "development" is actually to be expected.

The trees hardly got any taller though! After 60 years??

This is a great idea for a video project, but I would have slowed things down a bit. It's hard to appreciate the landscape similarities/changes this way. Still, a really good idea.

Fwoggie, I spent a week visiting a friend in Clapham Junction back in '85. Enjoyed it very much.
