I would totally frame "Correlation is not causation" and put it on my wall.

Angilion: Yes we're all waiting for Fancy to update his character set to one that's actually relevant in the 8th century, not to mention the 21st.

Not to be one of those internet users, but I'm about 100% sure the indicator in my car doesn't show that my intent is to turn right when I push it up...

I like how Wookiepedia has a twisted convoluted theory as to why Han Solo said the M Falcon did the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs

I like how it casually mentions the high probability of hitting an asteroid in an asteroid belt. That's a plot device in sloppy sci-fi. In reality, asteroid belts are almost completely empty and you could fly on any random course straight through one with only a tiny chance of hitting anything, even if you were asleep and none of your sensors were working.

To clarify Draculya's comment a bit, a parsec is also a measurement of distance.

Dammit, the Old English characters displayed perfectly in the editing window and were then mangled before posting. I was expecting something like that, since IAB's software is so spectacularly crap, but it's still annoying.

English has been so heavily altered over the centuries that I think it's a bit uncertain whether it's accurate to call it a Germanic language. Old English is, but modern English is quite different and not just in vocabulary. Old English doesn't even use the same alphabet (it initially used runes and later used a heavily modified Latin alphabet with additional characters).

Odd factoid - the "Elvish" runes in The Hobbit are Old English.

Some Old English, after it had already been changed a bit, to illustrate my point:

Eft he axode, hu ðære ðeode nama wære þe hi of comon. Him wæs geandwyrd, þæt hi Angle genemnode wæron. Þa cwæð he, "Rihtlice hi sind Angle gehatene, for ðan ðe hi engla wlite habbað, and swilcum gedafenað þæt hi on heofonum engla gefera

Eh?

(That's all I got, eh?)

How about: "The Exception PROBES The Rule" not "proves"...
Too late to change that one though, lolz! For all intensive purposes...

I had actually had a AP psychology teacher in high school who thought we only used 10% of our brains, we got into a heated argument about it one day and the class just believed him because he was the teacher, he even put it on our quiz. It still gets me angry anytime someone brings it up.

...and the Sun is considered a yellow dwarf star.

@Thonius,
In support of your "Amazing fact":
ALL people living on the American continents, including "Native Americans", have their original roots in a different part of the world. So, yes, all those qualities you mentioned, as well as some very good ones, were imported.

Amazing fact:

People are ignorant, mean-spirited, stubborn, and rude all over the world. The U.S. did not invent or perfect those qualities.

Disirregardlessly, in the words of King Oslo of Norway, "ignorance is the blissfulness."
