@Gerry1: Nixon's actual "crime" was the SECRET recordings he made in the Oval Office itself (or other White House meeting areas) WITHOUT telling anyone they were being taped. OR letting the CIA, FBI, SS or whomever know about it either!

Then his Secretary "accidentally erased" the critical minutes of the most critically important tape of all...

IF Nixon ordered her to do it? THAT is a "high crime" (misuse of Office) and THAT is solid ground for impeachment all by itself.

remember Watergate?

OF course I remember it. But Nixon ordered an illegal wiretap. I doubt the worker bees had to consult with him on how to get it done, they planned the logistics of the break in themselves. Of course, he's an accomplice in that, but it's the Wiretapping that is the main issue.

Touche. He did coke too right?

Yup, according to his own, two, autobiographies he did.
No heroin though!

Bush Jr snorted cocaine like a Wildman too. Bill Clinton smoked pot (& inhaled!), as did Carter's son (inside the White House).

@DrProfessor: ok then: Did NIXON break and enter? Did he personally plant bugs? No? Then why'd he face impeachment?
>He gave the orders
>He helped cover up the crimes

ditto for Obama... AND Obama lied his arse off directly to the American Public, repeatedly.

I blamed bush for the economy and budget for 2009, that's it.

Yes, but continue to ignore the deficit spending added AFTER the 2008 election. Making it "lame duck" requiring the approval of the NEXT PotUS, House and/or Senate.

GM Bailout? Added after.
Obama ADDED over 200 billion in new spending just before his own record-breaking deficit & pork laden budget. (Second Stimulus, remember?) The ONLY budget he's signed since taking office...

To "Blame Bush" for things that were added AFTER he signed it? Riiiight... I mean: Left!

What has Obama PERSONALLY done that is illegal? Not SOMEONE in the federal government. Obama. Please tell me

""Nothing illegal" Really?"

Privacy from the people in the government whose job it is to protect me, not privacy from simple minded crazy dips.hits on the internet.

HolyCrap... If you think monitoring is ok then there's nothing to stop them for using that info when ever, how ever they want. Just an example: marijuana was legalized in some states. Before it was legal, someone had to smoke it illegally first to understand that it's not worthy of a punishment. Same goes for homosecuality, segregation, all the neat little advances to human rights wouldn't be here unless someone broke the law first. Te lady who sat in the front of the bus broke the law and is now a hero. Without some level of illegality, no laws will ever change. That is the reason why no one should EVER allow "i got nothing to hide" to dictate the policies.

And Mahers critique is not exclusively about the current POTUS. It's about the era we are living now. All those three examples are from this millenia (and couple of years before i guess..) If that rich white dude was elected instead, you would be in the exact same mess as you are now..

How do these arguments happen? I mean, jesus tapdancing christ are we still at the point where people can compare a contemporary politician to Hitler with a straight face? Are you serious?

Kudos to HolyGod for keeping his head through it all. I'd be seeing red.

HG: You've done a lot more than attempt to point out supposed hypocrisy, you've covered Obama's ass like a blanket. "Nothing illegal" Really?

"Privacy is not something I hold incredibly dear."
Says a guy that posts anonymously here on IAB. Now that's hypocrisy.

"after 5 years of Obama being in office you still blame Bush. And you DO make excuses for his malfeasance."

I blamed bush for the economy and budget for 2009, that's it. When it comes to the patriot act, drones, or fast and furious I simply point out how hypocritical it is to get up in arms about something that has been going on for a decade and was OK under the previous administration.

"If Bill Maher, a died in the wool liberal, can finally admit that Obama is worse than Nixon, then why can't you? That is what makes you ideologically blind."

Maher is WAY more liberal than I am. I personally am OK with the monitoring. I said that when Bush started it. Surveillance doesn't really bother me all that much. Privacy is not something I hold incredibly dear.

@HolyGod: Obama did NOT provide the required documentation to become a CANDIDATE for PotUS. This is a fact, no opinion required!
McCain did it. EVERY (modern) PotUS has done it!

Obama just said: I have that certificate in a vault in Hawaii... and that was good enough for the Dems! Of course later he still failed to produce it... it was dragged out of the archives, correct?

@HolyGod: Stop revising history: Both @CrakrJak and I have repeatedly criticized Bush's policies, actions and stuff. Period. We did so THEN and still do NOW. Not ALL of them (duh!) but one hell of a lot more than you've criticized Obama...

HG: I've been a member here since 2008, didn't have much of a chance to "bitch about Bush". It was the end of his terms anyways.

The main problem you have is that after 5 years of Obama being in office you still blame Bush. And you DO make excuses for his malfeasance.

If Bill Maher, a died in the wool liberal, can finally admit that Obama is worse than Nixon, then why can't you? That is what makes you ideologically blind.

"I realize you're to ideologically blind to respond to."

Did you even read what he wrote? It is illegal for Obama to be president because he wasn't born here. That IS too dumb to respond to. Although you probably believe it too huh?

His other points were worth responding to, but 7 killed it.

"You preface most excuses with "Bush did it", as if that makes a damn bit of difference."

No. Not an excuse. I am against lots of things Obama does, but I was against them when Bush did them too. My problem is your hypocrisy. You b.itch about things Obama does even though they were happening under Bush without you ever complaining. That is all I point out. It doesn't EXCUSE what Obama does.

Gerry,
He also approved of illegal break-and-entries (remember Watergate?) in a clear effort to usurp the American presidency.
5Cats,
I've actually heard Maher come out against some of Obama's decisions. Ever hear Bill O'Reilly say anything against George Bush? Remember that Maher is also a comedian, makes his money making fun. Bill presents everything as unassailable fact.
Regarding torture - yeah, a lot of awful stuff. Not only during WW2, either. Don't forget the "Cold War" which lasted a lot longer and had significantly less in the way of an excuse!

I realize you're to ideologically blind to respond to.

You preface most excuses with "Bush did it", as if that makes a damn bit of difference. It's no different than a guilty kid saying, "But Billy did it too!" to their mom. Yes, that's just how dumb you sound.

Speaking of "Dicks":
Please list the illegal things he (Obama) has done:

Someone does so.
you are too dumb to respond to.

@HolyDick! Definitely NOT "@DickGod... LOLZ!

Obama gave the orders, just like Hitler did, dumbarse.

@Listypoo: Every nation involved in WW2 used torture, and I don't mean 'waterboards'. I mean blood, fire & electricity until the victim dies type torture... ALL nations were guilty of it.

Funny how Bill has sucked Obama's dick from day one...
Dick, Dick Nixon, get it?

Bill Maher is below contempt. NOW he's figured out what WE knew in 2007? Way to go... Dick.

"There was tortures too, beating people to near death for things like "smoking a cigarette while not being near a tin can" or forcing pows to clean out latrines with their hands, chopping off limbs, making fathers have sex with daughters, all just for fun. "

Yeah, when I was at college I worked in a nursing home at nights and weekends and one of the old guys in there had been a prisoner of the Japanese during the war... he was still having sleepless nights because of it nearly 50 years later.

That is not to say that I don't think waterboarding isn't torture, it is. Otherwise why not let the police do it in investigations? One of the few things that me and Jesse Ventura agree on.

@Listypoos: Have to disagree with you there. They were executed for permitting or failing to prevent atrocities. Things like having the soldiers bayoneted, shot, or slaughtered with samurai swords. The japanese would push pows off the cliffs so they could have fun watching them fall or just set them on fire. They would throw babies in the air and catch them on bayonets.

There was tortures too, beating people to near death for things like "smoking a cigarette while not being near a tin can" or forcing pows to clean out latrines with their hands, chopping off limbs, making fathers have sex with daughters, all just for fun.

Waterboarding was just one aspect that John Mccain highlighted. But the japanese version was still way worse. In the occupation of Singapore, the Japanese would do it until the pows stomachs were distended with water and then they would have guards jump on them.

I was going to respond to each one of your points until I got to number 7 and realized you are too dumb to respond to.
