As for soup vs. chili, just simmer it down for longer and gets thicker and thicker, yeah?

The problem there is you'll cook out all the tomato flavor. This is why people put ketchup in chili. For the record, ketchup does not have one single ingredient that doesn't belong in chili -- water, tomato paste, vinegar, sugar, onion, and garlic. The proportions are not the same, but it will definitely improve the taste of over-cooked chili.

It wouldn't help this clusterf***, though. He pretty much ruined it with that bell pepper.

But I don't have any beer. Hell I haven't had a beer in over 5 years. I'll never be a chili master

a real man has no clue how to even turn on the stove and would just get his wife to make it for him while the man drank beer and thought about how much his job sucked.

@ Dead Kittens, if you've never made chilli try using squirrel meat. It's great with those spices.

@Bacon:
Although some people say real chili doesn't contain beans, they are acceptable in most competitions.
Corn or macaroni is not.

I think this would be better described at "How to make chili like a boss", as opposed to "...like a man". Otherwise, I like the post.

I put more cumin in mine..... other than that, it's pretty similar. although if I'm making a batch to freeze, I don't add the meat.

You should be able to eat chili with a fork. Not a straw.

2 AM chili. I'd then go to bed, wake up at 09:00 and serve hot on wholemeal toast, with a light sprinkle of cheese, then back under the grill. Serve before soggy. Mmmm!

NO, NO, NO!!
Saute your veggies in the pot and then add the beef to brown. DO NOT drain your beef or your beans.
Add your tomatoes and mix.
(I dry out pablanos, red chilis, jalapenos and habaneros, deseed them and put them in a food processor to make my powder. plus add some of the other spices).
Chunks of meat! take a cheap steak and cut it up and add it in. Doesn't matter how cheap,by the time it's done they'll be nice and tender.
Let that f*cker cook at LEAST 8 hrs on low.(Slow cooker is the best.)
And for the love of sweet baby Jesus, DO NOT ADD CORN!!!!

Agree with Ollie. That's soup, not chili.

NO coconut products! (I'm allergic)
NO added sugar! (it weakens the "hotness")
NO Green Pepper! (I hates them! Same for yellow, red, purple & etc)
BEER is very good, yes

No, really! It does tenderize and add tons of flavor to any meat! It's a fact!

Half an onion? A TINY bit of garlic?
BLASPHEMY!!!!

Corn? Green beans!?
No.

Also, skip the powdered stuff and go for the real deal. Experiment with different chillies.
