Correction, Female prison Hinseberg in Sweden:
No internet access, no cable, no free sports program, no computer lab, no laundry service, no free housing (you are forced to work), no free dental care. Who make that bullpoo up anyway. Maybe it's like that in MALE prisons in America or something.

what did you expect when for-profit prisons are commonplace? They not only want you there, they want you there for as long as it takes you to become non-profitable.

Lets see:
Schools have libraries
Colleges and some public and private schools have computer labs

Colleges and some public and private schools have internet access

Colleges, technical colleges have funding to earn a degree (Pell, Hope, etc)

College have television, some even cable

Agent00Smith-"Why are people claiming that there are mistakes in this without defining them?"

Why not just start with the fact that they are trying to create an equivalency where none exists?

I could just as easily make a chart comparing 'Average spending per Student' to 'Average Spending for Jeep Tires' and it would be just as relevent.

Why are people claiming that there are mistakes in this without defining them? No one likes to see the truth, especially when it isn't pretty.

Really? The schools don't have libraries? Why does this sound fishy to me?

kivimies-"Why won't the kids get free healthcare?"

Because there is no such thing as free healthcare.

OldOllie:
"Yet another glaring example of breathtaking liberal stupidity."
------------

Yet another glaring example that Oldollie has his head so far up his ass the brainwashing, he has endured, has him believing in anything with a right wing slant regardless of how ridiculous it is to normal people.

If you live in a first world country and your local schools don't have libraries, computer labs, internet access or sports programs, then you might want to consider relocating.

I wonder how much of the $28,570 they quote for the prisoners goes towards maintaining the facility and paying the wages that keeps these criminals locked up and away from normal society.

Simple!
Finish junior school, hold up local store. Get sent down for duration of college stay, come out educated, fit, debt-free. Change your name and move to another state.

This is plainly retarded whichever way you look at it... Students have persnal freedoms and the ability to borrow and generate income.. Yes I am quite sure every inmate gets a personal cable tv and 3rd party employees to do their laundry..yes they get funding for a degree hence 'rehabilitation'...making them a functioning part of society.

"Oh yeah, they also forget that you possibly get raped."

I'm calling BS - every public school has free internet for students, has athletic facilities including a weight room, access to a library and free sports program. Secondly, incarcerated prisoners are WARDS OF THE STATE. School children have their housing, clothing, laundry, etc provided by their parents, as they are WARDS OF THEIR PARENTS. This is stupid and factually incorrect. Especially about the free sports programs and library!

OldO please explain. I'm just wondering how what why. do you see this as some form of propaganda filled with falsehoods or do you have a valid point as to why this is "liberal stupidity"?

Actually if they wanted to make an absurd comparison it should be between the gifted and "differently-able."

Cable television: I doubt it's Cinemax in HD on a 50" led
Sports programs: where fights happen (see 1)
Degrees: lol I'm sure they jump right out the page on a resume
Meals: slop
Clothes: orange jumpsuit

Andrew155- like any system there will be those who really abuse it yeah. But for me, a white girl who came from a single mother house hold with a mediocre income, there honestly wasn't much money out there for me. Or maybe I didn't know where to look since I have no idea how to use the system...I got a couple grants for not much at all, and the rest were loans. Point is, in short, every system is flawed in some way and will be abused by some, which is not fair to others.

Oh goodie it's one these posts! And OldOllie is already here, surely preparing to be as antagonistic and pigheaded as he can be. This will be fun!

I was a student in college and had most of these things given to me. Awesome library, computer lab, three meals a day, etc. Granted, I paid for it all and am in horrendous debt right now...but I still had access to them.
