The best thing you can say about Ike is that he was mostly harmless.

I wish we could say that about Obama.

tiedyed: Didn't have to click your link to recall that one. Amazing that it came from a president; remarks like that today would instantly kill your chances of even running for president. Or governor. Or possibly dogcatcher.

"If a politician ran this ad today, people would think he was a crazy person."
Legend goes "One night, he woke up at 03:00, called someone and said: 'We've gotta get into space!'"

I would have voted for him, screw what he stood for, that ad was genius. Plus, the end was priceless.

"Now is the time for all good Americans to come to the aid of their country." This use to be a typing aid like "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dogs". :)

Yeah too bad we didn't heed his exit speech about the misplaced power resulting from the rise of the military industrial complex.

"Wouldn't work today, but it was pure gold in '52!"

I was thinking the same. If a politician ran this ad today, people would think he was a crazy person.

Why can't we have commercials like that today. It would make the political season way more bearable

One of the best political ads ever!

Wouldn't work today, but it was pure gold in '52!
