I just looked it up, and all areas of the planet (including the Hudson Bay area) have the same level of gravity within a range of 1/10,000th.

If we knew this at the beginning of the article, who would have continued reading on? A few scientists maybe?

So what's the difference in gravity? I have a feeling if they told us what the difference was, it would be so insignificant that nobody would bother reading their boring article.

It's been long known that gravity decreases where the Earth's crust is thinner. For example around a volcano there is less gravity.... not a noticeable amount, but measurable.
