Sorry, got it wrong, you should accelerate if you get a blowout.

Once again, do NOT take driving advice from teenagers.

When spinning out of control you should accelerate and not brake

When spinning out of control whatever you do, you should NEVER take driving advice from a teenager. There are WAY too many variables in a skid to have one rule for all situations. Sometimes you accelerate, sometimes you coast, sometimes you brake, sometimes you use just the handbrake, and sometimes you want to lock up all 4 wheels (good luck with that if you have ABS).

In any case, it's usually steering more than braking that will get you back under control.

He was involved and he ran?

He wasn't involved, he avoided it. He was a witness though and the video could be helpful.

So expert drivers don't stop to check on people who've just been in a wreck??

He should have pulled over but he could have called 911 without stopping. He could also turn over the video later. It would have made sense to stop, who knows what really happened after the fact.

When spinning out of control you should accelerate and not brake, that's probably what the driver there did, and that probably why he didn't stop to check for the others.

ABS is okay for most situations when it works. I nearly had two wrecks because the ABS in my S-10 Blazer had bad software. If you hit the brakes just a bit too hard on a wet street, the modulator would kick in, and you would lose about 75% of your braking force. In one case, I missed rear-ending another car by 6", and in the other I completely blew through a red light. GM wouldn't admit there was a problem, so I asked a mechanic to disconnect it. He said it would be a federal offense if he did it, but if I, on the other hand, were to disconnect that wiring harness right there...no the other one...yeah that one...well...

Two years and 250,000 complaints later, they finally issued a recall. When I took it in, the mechanic said, "Here's why your ABS isn't working; it's disconnected." I replied, "No, you got it backwards. It's disconnected because it isn't working." He hooked it up to a computer, flashed the memory with some new code, and it was fine.

ABS are fun. When I was selling cars and a new model was coming out, we go to take it on an obstacle course where you try to wipe out on sand and water. But the safety systems would always kick in. Fun trying though!

ABS are loud.

@Gerry A car going straight can brake a LOT faster than a car going sideways (ABS doesn't work when you're going sideways). Go back and look how long it takes for him to drop below 100 kph. The reason he was nearly creamed is that he was at least 2 seconds late getting on the brakes. The guy obviously had his head up his ass.

@ OldOllie, look in the bottom right corner of the video. He reduces speed from 106 Kph to 38. He DID brake hard.

Expert driver? That fapping idiot didn't even TRY to brake! If that happened to me, as soon as I saw the red car swerve, I'd have hit the brakes HARD, and ALL of that crap would have happened 50 yards in front of me.

Expert driver!

What? He just keeps going? He's legally obliged to be a witness, yes? Especially since he has video of the whole thing.

It's the proper thing to do.
