It's one thing for churches to have a theater or even a religion-themed amusement park ("Don't miss the Noah's Ark ride!") but to wrap their dogma in a cloak of pseudo-science and sell it as a "museum" is a slap-in-the-face to real museums everywhere. That deserves to be hated on.

Okay, now I'm an atheist, and I find things like this to be really annoying. Don't mock other people for their beliefs and act like you're better than anyone for what you do or don't believe. This museum is probably pretty enjoyable for people of faith. Don't hate on that.

To be fair to EgalM, he does have a little bit of a point (tho I'm not sure whether it was the point he was trying to make). A lot of what's taught as evolution in schools (even those schools which rightly deplore creationist BS) is fundamentally wrong, or at least significantly outdated.

Now, this isn't to say that there's anything at all wrong with the theory itself, but given the poor standard of education on the subject, it's really no surprise that most people have a very poor understanding of the theory ... and this includes the majority of people who accept evolution too.

I apologize on behalf of educated Canadians for EgalM's iggerunt comments, which, at least, are now muffled by Davymid's large and well-placed boot.

As an aside though, it's good to see that Saruman was not unemployed after the LOTR trilogy finished.

Angels dancing on the head of a pin!
As the atheist son of an atheist mother, (who had christianity beaten into her as a child), I look upon all of the 'worship' religions as fallacious codswallop.
However, as a human being, I consider that every other human being has the right to believe exactly what they want, but not to impose that belief on any other human being.
If the rest of the world were to share this opinion, religion would die out eventually, although I'm not sure about the consequences.
All I can do is watch my fellow humans and despair.
All hail agent d...

EgalM, you may want to have a look here for a ten minute primer on evolution and why what you've been told on YouTube and at other quack peddler's media outlets is wrong. It's a quick, concise, factual article from National Geographic and I doubt you'll find a single thing about it that can be legitimately challenged. At all. I send you to it not because it's comprehensive, but because it's clear, easy to read in ten to fifteen minutes, and discusses the concepts that most people get wrong about Evolution. This information should a minimum prior to even discussing the topic.

I assure you Egal, I understand science a hell of a lot better than you apparently do. When you challenge my understanding of evolution as being at a high-school level, I think you may be projecting. Typically those who deny evolution, are those who don't understand it. Like you.

Pick your battles dude, this is one you're not winning. At least you admitted you were sitting this one out immediately after posting, so I guess you're off the hook.

@Davymid, I'm guessing you stopped studying evolution after reading your high school text book. The "facts" you speak of, are mostly misleading, misinformed, or flat out false concepts...

OK, since you called me out personally, let's dance, dickhead. I have a Ph.D in Earth Science, a M.Sc in Earth History and a B.Sc (1st Class Honours) in Geology. That included many years of studying palaeontology, earth history, palaeoecology, etc. I'm a published author 11 times over in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, and all those publications were based, fundamentally, on the foundation of evidential scientific facts including the age of the earth and biological evolution.

Hell, if I wanted to be a dick about it, it's Dr. Davymid to you fella.

Crakr and MelCervini, the reason that I don't typically say anything about Muslims is because *they* aren't making laws in my country that affect me, my family and my community. They aren't attempting to indoctrinate our children, here, in the U.S. It's as simple as that. If a Muslim person were to attempt to write laws based on the Koran into our Constitution or in any other way have said rules codified (at any level, local, state or federal), I'd be out there and in their faces and harassing them as well. I only give what I get. You keep your religion off of me, my family and public resources and I'll not harass you or your religion. Matter of fact, I'll fight to support your right to practice your religion. And as a veteran, I have!

That you think we don't attack Muslims out of some sort of fear is patently wrong on every level. Bullies aren't scary--bigots who write laws that affect us all are scary.

Islam is dumb as sh t as well.

Only thing is their hateful activities and rhetoric eclipses their borked facts.

Said it elsewhere- will say it again. There is no debate- evolution by natural selection is the way it is. The only first world country that has a problem is the US. it is frightening and shocking that they have policy makers who are so poorly educated. it matters because selection is a driving biological principle which affects all life on earth. The existence of a place like this is a national disgrace- because it has the potential to affect the rest of the world. If people are ignorant because they live in a 3rd world country that ignorance is forgiveable.
some Moslems do not accept it- and those who are well educated get called as much as anyone else- because most Moslems do not kill people. the fact that people can come on the internet and spout ignorant crap and think it makes them clever only get scary when that crap is so bloody dangerous. An inability to understand a simple life encompassing process is truly terrifying.

To make fun of other people's beliefs and feel all superior about it at the same time.

Yey tolerance!

Because muslims kill people for that sort of thing, Christian's don't.

@Davymid,

I'm guessing you stopped studying evolution after reading your high school text book. The "facts" you speak of, are mostly misleading, misinformed, or flat out false concepts presented as facts by text book editors who don't know any better. I'll just mention the embryo chart is falsified, but presented as fact in text books. When asked about it, I've heard scientists in the field say they know it's faked, but it's a good guide.

So whose filling whose head with nonsense and holding them back in that situation? It's a two way street, people lie, people can be dicks to push their own agenda. There's so much more I could say on the topic, but I'll leave it there as I just wanted to make a point and move on. Not interested in fighting about it.

"I'm saying this to the Evangelical Atheists who seem so omnipresent on the internet..."

The words Evangelical and Atheists do not go together in any way. That hurt my brain.
