Crakr - Yes the public does get used to new ideas. Just look at the 50s, the idea of sharing a lunch counter with a colored person was horrific! But as you point out the population was desensitized to this. How awful!
As for this specific young/old marriage - blame the media. World press used to take much longer, it wasn't instant as it is now so although this sort of thing happened no one heard about it. I doubt this is something new the young/old crowd are trying to desensitize us to. |

This headline seems shocking now, but they are only as shocking as gay marriage headlines were 30 years ago.
The more crap like this get public attention the less shocking it gets, until the idea no longer shocks people at all.
Need an example? look at 1950s and 60s horror movies. When they were made they truly were horrifying to people, now people watch them and laugh at how corny they seem. |

@CrakrJak - You didn't actually read the article, did you? If you did then you'd realize just how dumb your comment is.
This was in South Africa, the boy's grandfather was dying and had said he wished he'd get to see his grandson get married before he died. The marriage/wedding was just a show put on to grant his dying grandfather his wish. The marriage is not legally binding in any way, shape or form. |

They got married because his grandfather (the woman's husband) was dying and wanted to see his grandson get married before his death. The whole wedding was a gesture to grant the grandfathers dying wish. And like they said, no official documents were signed. |
