Wednesday, March 06, 2013 10:57:39 AM Here's my thoughts... what if you run in and kick the attacker in the head and then afterwards find out that the guy he was strangling just molested his 5 year old kid? I call the cops and let them do their job.

Wednesday, March 06, 2013 9:37:56 AM Four things that people automatically do in these situations.. 1) realize there is a situation 2) correctly interpret the situation (is someone in need of help 3) access if you have the skill to help 4) make a conscious decision to help *same social psychology class as paperduck - it's called the bystander effect |

Wednesday, March 06, 2013 8:00:01 AM Lukeforv there were studies done on this. Basically, the more people around the less likely someone steps in because it concluded everyone is hoping someone else will do something. In situations where there is 1 or 2 witnesses, like this elevator scene, the likelihood of someone stepping in is greater because they immediately know they are the only ones that can help. It's a human tendency humans need to be aware of and overcome in the situation you experienced. |

Tuesday, March 05, 2013 11:29:11 PM I walked out of the Mac store a few years back in downtown San Francisco with a new MacBook and got attacked by some Asian guy. There must have been at least 50 people that saw what was going on and not a single person did a thing. After about two full minutes of me eventually fighting him off, I was able to hold onto my new computer. No one did anything, it was in the middle of the day, in broad daylight, my girlfriend was yelling for help, and none came. I was surprised to see the few people in this video actually do something. Now I carry a taser and switch blade, I can't count on anyone in this country. |

Tuesday, March 05, 2013 8:57:43 PM "I'm having hard time believing this wasn't staged. Not one guy kicked him squarely in the head? I would have destroyed him with his head that low." This is an advertisement for a soon to release movie. If there are any accents to be heard in this video, they're american accents. Almost positive this is New York. Ideally, do this in an area where people have a lot of money, and you may not need to stage it to prevent any real damage to the "assailant." |

Tuesday, March 05, 2013 9:08:15 AM God- what a risk to take, the 'murderer' could have been SERIOUSLY hurt!! I can think of a few people I know who would have stopped that VERY fast, but they would act first and think later! |
