I agree that most if not all new gun legislation won't do a lick of good. Most of these new laws seem to be great at keeping away from law-abiding citizens but hey, call me when you can figure out a way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, ok?

My rebuttal is you want Joe Biden in charge of solving a fabricated problem the majority of US citizens don't support.....

Good job creating record gun sales though!!

Lemme summarize the video for the commenters who obviously didn't watch.

Jon Stewart is saying (a) more gun laws won't be very effective, b/c we don't enforce the gun laws we ALREADY have, (b) the agency that has the most power to enforce gun laws is the ATF, (c) the ATF agency director's time and resources are strung thin b/c he has two full-time jobs, and (d) government corruption has prevented a competent agency director from being appointed, since a law on the books requires the Senate to confirm the appointment, and the Senate won't do that.

"Every piss poor argument anti gun lemmings have presented before if you want the answers see every anti gun thread here before hand."

If you don't want to offer a rebuttal to the points Mr. Stewart raises, I can only conclude that you don't have one, or that you didn't actually watch the clip.

Biasing yourself is what leaves you right wingers in the bubble because any source of information that isn't right wing enough for you is the "liberally biased MSM" and therefore can't be trusted.

ROFL!! That's cute you think I'm republican. Now tell how comedy central isn't biased.

Way, way off subject here, but American embassies are not considered to be US soil. They are places in which US laws apply, but they are technically on the host county's soil. Nevertheless, an attack on a country's embassy is considered an attack on that country.

Here's an article

Interesting how none of the usual suspects around here want to actually address what Jon Stewart is saying in this video.

The school shooter took his mom's guns, and she presumably followed all applicable laws.

When he took those guns that made them illegal.

Unless you consider that the writers are good at writing jokes, and Jon is good at delivering said jokes. Does not make Jon or his writers any less of a comedian. Plus your retort has nothing to do with the interviews at the end of the show.

I have never laughed at a single thing he's said he is not funny at all.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

"One of President Obama's winning points last night was about how sanctions against Iran are crippling their economy. And believe me, if anyone knows how to cripple an economy, it's President Obama." –Jay Leno

More late night smattering of President Obama

Plus, Jon Stewart has repeatedly criticized Obama's double standards regarding transparency. Especially the case when it comes to his use of drone strikes. While I don't need this critique to know how destructive the Bush-Obama foreign policy is, it does not anyone foolish to take this critique seriously.

I'm sure he knows more about it than you do to.

Oh, I don't doubt that. It's just that most of what he knows isn't true.

Cajun: It takes about a week of training for someone to be an effective "interviewer", it's not hard. Jon Stewart is a comedian, he calls himself a comedian. Taking anything he says seriously is a mistake.

klaxor: "The American embassies are diplomatic missions of the United States, located in countries all over the world. These embassies exist to represent the interests of the United States and its citizens in these foreign countries. These interests can be political or commercial. Technically, every embassy is legally considered to be American soil. Thus, if you visit an American embassy, American laws apply."

That's not smart, that's just brainstorming and plagiarizing.

HG: US Embassies abroad are "US soil". Since we lost ambassador Chris Stevens inside the Benghazi embassy, That was indeed a terrorist attack on US soil.

I don't know if you heard, but the unemployment rate went back up, and the previous one before the election was revised upward.

The housing market is still suppressed. Housing starts are still below 1,000.

The stock market took another dive, Dow Jones index below 14,000.

And all the money the government spent into hi-tech batteries for electric cars was wasted and now the technology is in Chinese hands.

So, please tell me again how everything is going so well for us.

Bakcagain21: "Jon Stewart knows more about politics then you do, he comes into contact with more, Has to know it well to satire it for the US audience..."

He has dozens of writers behind he scenes writing his jokes for him, they even steal jokes from other pundits. That's not smart, that's just brainstorming and plagiarizing.

"So Obama is just an anchor? That explains a lot."

No terrorist attacks on American soil.
Two wars ended or ending.
Rebounding economy.
Revitalized housing market.
Saved automotive industry.

What a total and complete f.uck up.

I don't know what you guys are arguing about, since "anchor" just means "likeable guy who can read things off the teleprompter"

"Getting your arguments from Comedy Central should be the first indicator your argument is a joke."

Was anything they said inaccurate? If so, post proof. If not, shut the f.uck up.

I don't care where information comes from if the information is accurate. Biasing yourself is what leaves you right wingers in the bubble because any source of information that isn't right wing enough for you is the "liberally biased MSM" and therefore can't be trusted.

I can't stand Hannity. However, if he had some factual information about something horrible Obama was doing and I could verify its veracity I would pay attention to it.
