If only the US was created during the middle age, you would see republicans fighting to keep the right to have an armor and a sword. But yeah people that love to use the magic words : patriot, freedom, bible, constitution, communist etc.. as arguments in everything are just brainwashed. |

People should actually read the constitution before posting about what they think they know
From Article 1 Section 8: To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
So looking at the first portion of that, congress is required to arm the militias we dont currently have. And considering the arms we have today, if the militias did exist, they'd have drones and tanks and all the super duper stuff the military has. Yes our forefathers couldn't have imagined the technology we'd have today. But there it is plain and simple.

There are 2.2 million people in the military (roughly), and an estimate of 75 million people that own guns.
Sure, no amount of people will be able to directly go against a tank, but with guerrilla warfare, possible foreign aid, and commandeering military vehicles/weapons, I'm pretty sure that a resistance could put up a fight. |

You have rifles and handguns.
Your government has tanks and jets and bombs and missiles and drones and tens of thousands of trained soldiers.
Owning guns does diddly-squat to protect you against your government if it turns against you.
Ensuring that your military is obedient to the principles of your nation, and not to your leaders, WILL protect you from your government if it turns against you. Who commands the military commands the country, and the government can't oppress if the military won't fire on their oppressive commands. |

The 2nd amendment is necessary to the security of your freedoms. Don't be swung b/c they demand a change b/c they orchestrate shootings and refuse to report publicly the people who use guns to save lives.
