Don't see this as anti religious at all- Lots of subcultures are elevated to the level of religion: they influence behaviour, there is 'worship' of your heroes, (ie how god-like pop stars can be elevated to be) and a set of taught values. I think this is more the vein it's in. Some more straight people might view it as 'blasphemous' I suppose.. |

@ marcus2...I don't care about this Banksy god you're all worshipping. Never heard of him. I was talking in generalities about tagging and graffiti. If the pub owner and school wanted the "art" and it helped that's great. As for the tens of milllions of "artwork" plastered on houses and building not owned by the "artist", it's a crime. Try understanding the context in which I wrote my comment. Additionally, if that's a representation of your God Banksy's work, it sucks. Ignorant? Idiot ? Name calling ? That's the best you can come with? It might hurt my feeling if you and your opinion mattered to me, but they don't. Take a deep breath dude. Relax. |

If someone wants graffiti sprayed all over their house? Fine! Let them! But please don't spray all over OTHER PEOPLE'S houses, cars, garages, workplaces, fences...

@collegebound: I know a couple who were goth-metal, they painted their apartment to look like the inside of a gothic catherdral. All dark and gloomy! The caretaker said it was OK, he loved it!
@Tiredofnicks: No, I didn't know how it was made. Yes I know it's "art" disregardless of my opinion. I still think it's "g-rated" graffiti and praying to it is just a cheap anti-religious shot.

Maybe you should do a little research before you post a comment that stupid.
Firstly, Banksy's work doesn't devalue anything. There was a derelict pub in Liverpool a few years back that was painted on by Banksy, and it increased the value of it greatly.
Secondly, this wasn't done on a home, business or car, this was a community project for the 'City of Angels' public school in Los Angeles that Banksy took part in - he was doing something positive, but your ignorance stopped you from seeing that. Idiot. (Source) |

It looks like crap. People with nothing productive to do, running around town inflicting themselves on society, devaluing other people's property with their so called "art". They'd have a f***ing cow if anyone did anything to THEIR home, business or car. |

A stencil has been applied to pre-existing graffitti, creating this. The graffitti on it's own is not art, the stencil might be, but the two combined most definitely is art. |

I apologize, but anytime you see stencil art on the net, the immediate assumption is that it's a Banksy. I like his work a lot, but there's many, many other artists out there who have their work attributed to Banksy. It's the same as seeing any funny cartoon and saying, 'Oh is it a Gary Larson?' |
