I've seen this rig on youtube, It's supposed to be replicating the g-forces that throw you backwards when you take off or forwards as you brake, as well as the feeling of ascending/descending a hill, and the side to side of cornering. actually looks pretty f'n amazing, but you'd really have to try it to see how realistic the sensation was, and how well it synched with the game. |

its a car game, it shouldnt move that much
I'm assuming it's what happens when your car crashes and flies through the air tossing around, likely. |

It's a simulator, it has to move to give the feeling of the forces involved, not simulate the actual movement of the car. |

According to Wikipedia a Formula 1 car can accelerate forwards at 1.45g, which would need the chair to be tilted at 55 degrees to give a comparable effect.

markust: They can't actually move them enough to make it feel like however many Gs to the side. Instead the rotate them further so that they can feel like the are being thrown out of their seat. |
