My classmate Tina is a member of the Makah tribe from Neah Bay. They're the badasses that piss everyone off with their yearly whale hunt. In elementary school she invited the whole class to lots of Indian functions. With Washington having such a rich Indian culture it was really cool. What I remember most were the masks that would open up to another mask and sometimes a third mask. |

We have a powwow in our town that is like this every year in June. I live close enough to the area that I can hear the drum beats and the singing echoe through the air.. It's very calming and nice.. I enjoy it. The only thing was that there was a couple times when a guy forgot an undergarment to go under his loin cloth and when the wind blew it up, I got a full view of balls, a$$ and peen... |

When I was in elementary school, two years in a row we cut tee shirts into strips and colored them and made head dresses and got the whole school together and did a rain dance...
I think about that often and think, was that hateful???????????????? zomg!!!1!! did I offend a whole group of people at 9 years old?! |
