It did lose all of its emotion though. The eyes use the downward slanted angles, and darkening to make them look sad. Those eyes are sad. |

I didn't get it. Like it was erasing the painting to show the reality underneath but like it lost some of it's emotion. If it was another painting inside like the id and ego thoughts I would have dug that cause it's like pretentious but nope just a digital painting/photo of the thing we were already looking at. Maybe it was supposed to illustrate that there are other artists capable of doing master level work but for a modern era but idk it lacked the passion of the mentally depraved. |

It's weird to think that paintings used to be the only method of visual representation. I once saw an ad for a photo studio from the early 1900's that showed a photograph and a painting side by side. The ad said something like
"Photographic technology has advanced so much that now you can hardly tell the difference between a painting and a photograph!" |

Was this done to make it "look better"? I assumed that it was just bringing to reality how Van Gogh perceived himself. Which, of course, would be a bit different from how he actually looked. I don't believe this was done to take away from the artistic value of the original work. |

Yes... because Realism is the epitome of art...
I'd rather look at cave paintings from the paleolithic era than at computer generated poo that attempts to make actual art look "better."
Using a computer to create is one thing. Using it to make something that is already beautiful "better" is retarded. |
