For the record, maggots only eat dead tissue. This is why they're sometimes used in medicine.

This patient was admitted in our surgery department as a case of cellulitis with maggots in scalp. It was due to great negligence. He was a destitute. Following some days when his condition partially improved he absconded.
So not medical maggots. A homeless man that let a bad medical condition go too far. |

i aint sure but i once heard talk of using maggots to eat necrotic tisue to clean the wound. cause when i look at the skin discoloration, it seems to be dead flesh that the maggots are eating. could this be said treatment? |

Never thought that ailment could go so bad
My other half had it in her leg 2 years ago, damn painful but never got anywhere near that bad
antibiotics saved the day.
still had to have 3 weeks or so off work mind

If I had to watch this in real life, I'd probably hurl. But for some reason I find videos like this unendingly fascinating.
And like Gerry said, they often use maggots in hospitals for people with loads of tead tissue because they eat away all the dead tissue and let the good tissue regrow. Looks nasty though. |
