Saturday, January 05, 2013 8:03:10 AM DS, at the free-market price, a hard-core heroine habit would be less costly than a pack-a-day smoking habit. Have you ever been stabbed by a desperate cigarette smoker? Everything you describe is a consequence of prohibition, not the pharmacological effects of the drug. Mental instability is not a consequence of drug abuse? That's just an outright lie. |

Monday, December 31, 2012 6:18:58 AM Legalizing marijuana would be a good start. And stricter gun laws in the US. Then forcing Bolivia and Colombia to get their poo together. ROFL!! So legalize weed cause it being illegal has been working so well but crank down on guns beacuse that's been working out so well in Mexico. See a contradiction yet? Legalize drugs and take away their income then they'll have nothing to kill for. |

Sunday, December 30, 2012 8:15:10 AM This is why drugs are bad. Get so high you can't think of a civilised manner to act, so resort to uncivilised which has no bounds. Imagine if there was no war on drugs, no doubt things would be worse then they are now today. |

Sunday, December 30, 2012 5:50:33 AM Just horrendous. All those people dead just so a bunch of losers can get high... ------ Wrong. It's all those people dead because of others who want power, money and control over people. They dont care what the end result is, as long as they get what they want. |

All those people dead just so a bunch of holier-than-though prohibitionists who have no understanding of or respect for the constitution, and will not be content with running their own miserable lives, can feel good about themselves. |

Saturday, December 29, 2012 11:44:25 PM "why can't world governments see that this could all be solved with decriminalization and regulation?" Sure that will solve everything, Lets legalize Meth... Ridiculous.. Right, because prohibition has been working so well. Besides, what's a few thousand dead beaners if it makes you feel good about yourself? |

Saturday, December 29, 2012 10:00:42 PM Brysco - The two main drugs produced in Mexico are meth and mj. Meth use is going down, b/c people don't like drugs that drats up their face, so that leaves marijuana as the main source of revenue. Their move to cocaine would be difficult b/c it's not as easy to grow in Mexico as it is in Bolivia (where it's used like coffee), or Colombia (where the govt just doesn't care). Also, cocaine is crazy expensive. The cartel war wouldn't end overnight, but the cartels would mos def lose $$ over time. U call me childish and naive, but you think cartels making "a decent profit" is a good thing, and seem to have a tenuous grasp of economics and social welfare in general. Why do you think marijuana should be legalized, because it makes you feel good? Now who's being childish. |

Saturday, December 29, 2012 6:41:30 PM First of Klaxor, let me say that I agree that it is ridiculous to have marijuana illegal; no one has every presented me with a valid argument on why. However, your reasoning for it's legality is childish and naive. Let's see - do you really think if tomorrow, the US legalized pot, that the Mexican drug cartels would think, "Gee, it's legal now - guess we just better go straight and get jobs in fast food..." No - they would move to other illegal drugs - like bloodsucking US Corporations, they are in it to make money - the product itself doesn't matter; the revenue does. They more than likely would move to something else to sell - possibly worse, like cocaine, or other nasties that aren't as "innocent" as pot. In a way, as long as they are making decent revenue from pot, the non-legal status is doing us a favor. Next great answer? |

That was totally biased. It only showed the bad side of having a Drug War! Serously, it's a good thing drugs are illegal to protect us from violent criminals. |

Saturday, December 29, 2012 4:30:10 PM Well Obama and Holder think it is to send some firearms to the drug criminals. After all Mexico has strong gun laws, so they won't murder anyone with them because strong laws prevent gun violence, don't they? |
