He's originally from the UK where inbreeding qualifies you to be royalty. That explains alot!

He says he's now from Asia, and according to his profile, his favorite book is the Koran. That's all I need to know that he has no standing to accuse anyone of being inbred and having a low IQ as a result.

that could be due to a third factor, such as inbreeding or low IQ.

Draculya, this is a case of the soot-encrusted pot calling the stainless steel kettle black. Marriage to first cousins (often arranged to underage girls, according to the standards of civilized societies), is accepted and practiced widely in Islamic countries, while it is illegal and extremely rare in the US. The fact of Muslim inbreeding is well documented...

"that could be due to a third factor, such as inbreeding or low IQ"

This quote struck me. I think our culture of saying "You are a complete dumba$$ and are inferior to me" helps cause situations like this, making people do incredibly violent things so that they feel like they're being HEARD and RESPECTED. Because hate inspires hate, and negativity inspires negativity.

It just feels like people in general are more hostile and negative towards one another nowadays. Whether they're hostile with guns or with swords or with fists or with words, people are more apt to attack one another than to work together, because the instinctive response to one person expressing their opinion, is for the other person to say, "shut up, you dumba$$. you're inferior to me."

well said by Totalbiscuit.

These lunatics want to be known. They want their names in bolt print, they want you to argue about them, their actions and to be raised to some grotesque fame.

And you'll do it again, and again, and again...

Except that guns actually do exsist in massive quantities around the world. So ya that makes no sense.

Gun nuts are so funny. Same old circular logic "you can't ban guns because there are too many guns". Reminds me of bible bashers telling us that "god exists because it says so in the bible and the bible is truth because it is god's word". There must be a correlation somewhere. That's not to imply causality, that could be due to a third factor, such as inbreeding or low IQ.

@oldollie, having legal gun trade makes it much harder to spot illegal trade because there are more reasons to legally make and transport guns. Many people buy drugs daily, much more money to be made there.

how the media successfully manipulated ridiculous hype against gamers

That's not the only thing they've manipulated against. See how ridiculous it is to blame objects yet?

There are logical sane reasons for insanity, one thing leads to another, sometimes it's complicated, depends what you mean by 'make sense'.

Here is why this video is stupid. You are trying to make sense out of something that doesn't make sense.Trying to make something insane, sane, is stupid. There is nothing that will prevent insanity,so there you go.

Penny Arcade made a pretty interesting comment on the matter yesterday...

"To hear them tell it, the problem is with expressions of violence in the media. Videogames, music, movies, even the news are to blame. It is a very odd sort of patriot that would destroy the first amendment to protect the second."

The US is 5% of the world's population but has 50% of the world's guns. By a gun owner's logic, we should be the safest country on earth but we're actually one of the most dangerous places to live in terms of the likelihood of gun violence. What? It's because the criminals have guns? Well, how did we let criminals get the guns??

Obviously, we are doing something very wrong and maybe we should look at what the other, more mature and less gun violent countries are doing. They have the same games and movies as we have but 32 people don't get killed by guns every single day (goes to about 85 shooting deaths if you add in suicides). Hmm, those other countries have stricter gun laws. I thought stricter gun laws don't work. Imagine that.

If video games really did influence poples lives so much then surely the pacman generation would have ended up gobbling pills to a repetitive electronic ... hang on.

Actually, he makes his points well.

Ollie for once you make sense. Guns are not the real issue--we are. Guns cannot just jump up and kill someone.

And even as i type i know i am part of the problem, pointing my finger..

This isnt something that will go away by blaming people, this can only be remedied by us not buying into the hype. how?
Keep in mind the victims, not the shooter(s)
Write your local media to ask them to do the same
show support to the families behind all this
do not try to politicize this, or make part of an argument

And yeah, we are all human, so we will start of wrong. Dont try to change others that dont want to be changed, but you can start by changing yourself.

Again, i am for guncontrol, but this is no where near an argument for either side. the only person to own this is the shooter, everyone else in this is a victim.. Everyone

i love how this became a gun controll thing again, well done.. just march over the issue if you will.

personaly i am for guncontroll, will guncontrol stop crime? No.

Can we get back to this movie though? the correlation between certain crimes, video games and media coverage? because this has been an issue since the start of video games. Media was allready there. same goes with tabletop games, books, music and tv. For as long as teh people have been living, terrible things have happened. and it seems that there is always someone pointing the finger at someone (or something) else to put part of the blame on tham (or that).

Indeed, the correlation between media coverage, or rather, the way they cover, has oft been established. And often this is the only correlation in all these cases. Before there was tv media, people used newspapers, before that, people used folk songs (yes, talking about 1600 and prior)

I don't think the 'arm everyone' theory is very realistic. What you don't seem understand is that, despite the stereotype, most Americans don't feel the need to walk around every day with a gun. Those who do already are. The rest of us don't want to live like that, or we would.

I'm not against the second amendment (though I think legal gun owners should be proud to be held to a higher standard) but the right to bear arms doesn't mean we are obligated to.

@oldollie most drugs that have to be smuggled can only be smuggled in relatively small quantities. this pure form of the drug is very expensive but its then cut down by being mixed with something else (cocaine, for example, is commonly cut with kerosene and then recrystallized so it becomes like a rock) to decrease price and increase quantities. you can't cut down guns and i can guarantee you the cartels that are having a hard enough time getting their drugs over (its not about the quantity as much as it is about the purity, remember. a pound of PURE lsd is worth over $50 million, but a little drop on a piece of paper is $30). so basically you'd have them bringing small amounts of good guns and selling them for insane prices. since you can't really do much with a gun after you buy it (really, who's gonna pay more than you did for that thing? you're not gonna turn a profit and you won't get enough to arm a gang) who's gonna want to buy em off the black market?

even if you completely and utterly outlaw guns, some nut will go into a school/church/office/nursing home/etc. carrying a machete and off a bunch of people, just cuz he wants to.

You're almost right. If you completely and utterly outlaw guns, some nut will go into a school, church, office, nursing home, etc., carrying a GUN, and he will have the ONLY gun there.

We completely outlawed pot, cocaine, meth, and a host of other drugs. How's that working out?

I guarantee you, if we outlawed and confiscated all firearms, the same cartels who are bringing in TONS of drugs would simply add guns to their product line.

Oh, and if you're going to be smuggling in illegal guns, you might as well make the most of it and bring in fully automatic AK-47s, and RPGs. There are literally millions of them floating around the world markets, and, incidentally, they can't be detected by dogs the way drugs can.

Seriously, are you really that f***ing stupid?

...Well, to be fair, violence only showed up in human history when video games were invented.

Before Call of Duty/World of Warcraft/violent movies/rock and roll there was no violence, right? Right?
