So let me get this straight. First were "the good old days." Then rich people suddenly got greedy but lost control of their money and landing on houses that caused the housing bubble and led to the recession. Weird, I thought it was the democrats slogan "everybody deserves a home."

@klaxor: That IS a VERY good explaination! An excellent video that more people whould be aware of, even if it's from 2009, it still applies! Little or nothing has changed, eh?
You should offer it as a suggestion! I did a quick check and it doesn't seem to be on IAB yet. There's a LOT of IABers who have NO CLUE about what the "housing bubble" is or who/what caused it. |

- That's true, if the guy running the company was the guy who started it. I'm guessing that's not usually going to be the case with any major corporation.

- CEO's would sooner run a business into the ground than take a pay cut. A lot of CEO's also serve on multiple boards, so they aren't always entirely invested in one company. Plus, if a company goes bankrupt, most CEO's won't lose all their $, while most of their workers will lose their only source of income.

Well, obviously, the guy who runs the company is smarter than your wife, and has contributed more, and risked more, than your wife.
The guy(s) who STARTED the company risked more than your wife is ever willing to. They may have risked losing everything they had.
Tell me this: If, during the next quarter, the company your wife works for LOSES money, is your wife willing to take less in wages or forgo pay altogether? If she's NOT willing to do that, she is entitled to exactly the amount of profits the people who ARE willing see fit to pay her.
And, undoubtably, you wife's wage is in direct proportion to the profit she makes with the company. If she were performing a job that contributed more to the profits, she'd be worth more of a wage. |

@5Cats, I have to disagree. As I said, the "tax thing" is more about trying to get some degree of fairness. My wife works her butt off, in retail, for MANY hours a day. The corporation makes a huge amount of money and she gets minimum wage. If she was single, it wouldn't even be enough to pay for rent. How is it fair that a guy who runs a company can make billions of dollars a year while his employees don't make enough money to pay rent?
As I said, I have nothing against someone being rich. Buy yachts and mansions. But pay your damn employees. |

I see the usual Fox News derangement here. It's all good if you're equally deranged about other networks, but you aren't.
When Asner found out the guy interviewing him was rich, he asked if he could piss on him. Asner is a millionaire, I checked. He probably has more money than the guy interviewing him. He can piss on himself.
Also, the video criticizes Quantitative Easing. I wonder if any of these people genuinely criticize the Federal Reserve and Obama for those policies, the real policies that make people poorer. You see, making rich people poorer doesn't make poor people richer. Inflationary policies of the past 30 years do. Printing money and giving it to banks does.
I don't even disagree with a whole lot in that video, but I know I strongly dislike the people who made that video. Their tone is miserable. Their analysis is so one dimensional, its sad. |

@patchouly: We've been over this a dozen times at IAB (in general, not you and I specifically) the rich pay MORE Federal tax at a HIGHER rate than the middle class. The 'poor' essentially pay NO Federal INCOME taxes...
So YES it's all about getting someone ELSE's money. That's greed, pure & naked. |

Fox news! LOL!!!! Anyone who has trouble understanding that trickle down doesn't work, has clearly never spent any time at the bottom, getting pissed on.
Also, why do the right wing folk think this is us getting mad at people for being rich? It's not that at all. I have no problem with a person being wealthy. You can make a billion dollars a year. It's fine by me. What I have a problem with is if you made that money by being an a$$hole. If that money you have was gotten by bankrupting hard working families. Then, I have a problem. Asking them to pay their share of taxes is the only recourse left seeing how they will never pay a person a proper wage for the work they do. |
