Saturday, December 08, 2012 3:59:56 PM this reminds me of a story I read many years ago about a two women who had been together for over 40 years, both having been married heterosexually previously, one with children from that marriage. They shared a home, one partner passed, the one with children, they then barred their mother's partner from hospital, funeral, and finally from her home, as it was legally their's by inheritance. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I have ever learned. I was so moved by that, THIS is a beautiful thing. This is where an evolved population has made an evolved decision, 'though, i still can't believe it has any thing to do with legal rights, these are Human rights! |

Saturday, December 08, 2012 3:28:34 AM @Carmium - i hope you've never worn poly blend material. Leviticus 19:19 "'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate different kinds of animals. "'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. "'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. |

Friday, December 07, 2012 8:29:34 AM Drawman61: Oh, yeah. I guess you're right. So I won't go to jail for not honoring my father and mother, huh? Or for coveting my neighbor's ox, or shopping on Sunday, or saying "goddamn." That'll make for a big change, especially seeing as we live in a religiocracy. |

Friday, December 07, 2012 3:25:03 AM Yay, married in the eyes of God. Oh wait, the bible forbids it. It's OK, we pick and choose the bits we agree with nowadays. |

Thursday, December 06, 2012 9:54:05 PM Port Townsend, WA. It was strange I was looking at the front page of the paper yesterday and the two headlines were Q&As on legal weed, and legal same sex marriage. I had to wonder if that kind of thing had ever happened before. Not a bad state, all things considered. |

Thursday, December 06, 2012 2:05:24 PM These aren't the first married gay couple. They were the first to get a license. Washington state has a 3 day waiting period to get married. The earliest they can get married is Sunday. |

Thursday, December 06, 2012 2:03:50 PM Why do you have to be so negative MacGuffin? How do you know these weren't the people who have been fighting for this the whole time? Senator Ed Murray has been pushing for gay marriage for I think 15 years. |

Thursday, December 06, 2012 1:47:11 PM I love the scumbag politicians crowding round for a photo opportunity, like they're not part of a system that's been repressing (and even at times criminalising) these poor feckers for most of their adult lives. |
