If we're talking traditional slow zombies then a bicycle everytime. Fast enough to out-run, silent, needs no fuel, on or off road capabilities. A horse gives you a better view but you're also more visible and horses tend to panic.
Fast zombies mean you're pretty much screwed either way, although a horse at a gallop could push through a small group blocking your way. If there are more than a handful of them you should sacrifice the silence and fuel efficiency of both and get a motor vehicle. I'd go for a Landrover myself.
But is a virus really the only possibility. I'm pretty sure we're all familiar with Cracked. |

Kayak. It's a well known fact that zombies hate water.
Otherwise, I'd pick a bike over a horse. I assume it would be easier to repair the rare malfunction than to find enough food and water for a horse every day. Plus, zombies love horse meat - obviously. |

Well, the only real plausible "zombie" is a 28 Days Later zombie, basically a virus that infects a living person. In that sense it is plausible, kind of like rabies (like the movie Quarantine). I was in a heated debate with some colleagues the other day about the best mode of transportation in a zombie apocalypse, specifically between horses and bicycles. What are your thoughts, I-A-B?
