Tuesday, November 27, 2012 11:04:08 PM @McGovern1981 Did, did you seriously just insinuate that anyone elects royal family members? Oh wow. Also they aren't africans, they're black because they go through the chimneys to deliver presents. Also Santa claus is closely related to him (His name is Sinterklaas or Sint Nikolaas, which translates to about the same) |

Tuesday, November 27, 2012 3:23:41 AM Me and some friends were asked to help at an office party this weekend for kids entertainment. So i will be looking like one of those painted guys. that's what tradition is for. PS: they aren't really black, just black from going trough chimneys, which makes it oké |

For 400 years, Americans build an economy off the backs of slaves. Math isn't your strong point is it? How many black royal faimly members have you elected oh that's right..... |

Monday, November 26, 2012 7:15:15 AM Battle of the Dutch! Fight! :D Perhaps some of you guys should do some research on the definition of racism. I don't see any prejudices or stereotyping here. Does this tradition implies that we (the Dutch) think all white people are old, bearded saints riding horses? Or that white people like to travel through chimneys and have ashes or whatever you call that black stuff lining chimneys on their faces? Stelletje aanstellers.... |

Monday, November 26, 2012 6:35:59 AM As Modwain said maluku, the white guy on the horse (sinterklaas) is turkish. Read up on the things you comment about before you post something. I will admit that its not 100% correct to the story (as he's turkish he should not be THAT white) But what holiday is thees days? Christmas, the birth of Jesus. Yet the tradition of a christmas three is a old "non" christian tradition. Ment to keep evil spirits away. Easter, chocolat eggs that bunny's place around? They give a spin to it but thats not really what easter is ment to be. And many more holidays. |

Monday, November 26, 2012 3:59:14 AM Maluku, you are wrong in so many different respects, but you know what, nothing i say will reduce your rigth to have your own opinion or to look at it slightly different. in this case, seeing offence, is like chosing to be offended where no offence is offered. All i can say is read up on where the tradition comes from. It is neither typicaly dutch nor based on offence. Hell, the dude is traditionaly a turkish man, his helpers are mores, which one of those are white? |

Monday, November 26, 2012 1:38:05 AM yeah, makes me ashamed of living in holland... this is a retarded dutch custom.. dutch white ppl paint themselves black with red lips.. and basically run around as errand boys for a white wholy saint... and this is all done for kids (they get presents from the white saint dude) dutch white people see this as perfectly normal behaviour... the rest of us darker skinned people living in holland.. not so much... |

Sunday, November 25, 2012 3:05:32 PM @SilverThread/@OldOllie - Thanks, that's exactly what I was thinking but didn't feel like starting an argument with someone (Draculya) who has obviously never read a history book. |

Sunday, November 25, 2012 11:27:52 AM blackcatseye "Typical dumbass US attitude to ancient traditions that happen on one day of the year, thousands of miles away from you and you could just pipe down and leave it alone." Really? One person posts so now the entire US is dumb and racist. Maybe you should learn to tip and use deodorant, or discover the toothbrush. Is this true for you? Probably not, but encouraging bad stereotypes makes the world suck and you look like an egg sucking hypocrite. |

Sunday, November 25, 2012 7:41:19 AM Draculya, FYI, North America was occupied by EUROPEANS. Columbus was not American, Amerigo Vespucci was not American, the Pilgrims arriving on the Mayflower were not American. It wasn't until 1776 that the United States was no longer a European Colony, so your nonsensical tirade is at best an inaccurate depiction of historical fact. Do yourself a favor and let those uncomfortable chips slide off your shoulders and move on. |

Sunday, November 25, 2012 5:35:25 AM aye, what bolle linked. to bad people like to see racism in it, but well, horse, water, drink, that thing. Just like Sint Nicolaas is revered, so are his helpers, the Zwarte Pieten. Yes they are feared, but this fear comes out of respect for their position, no matter how frolicy they may seem.. They are Sint Nicolaas his helpers, not his slaves. They stil outrank, if you want to look at it hirarchicly, anyone that isnt part of the whole escapade and are only outranked by Sint Nicolaas. And he may be higher, but he is not above them, he portrays himself as someone who Needs the help of his respive and respectable Zwarte Pieten. If anything, they are the epitomie of not bowing down to an overlord. Just my two cents, but you know what, keep celebrating a fat dude, redisigned by a softdrink manufacturer so they can sell soft drink during the winter. he must be far less offencive, considering he is magic and works with elfs. Oh dang, no, wait, he is w |

Sunday, November 25, 2012 3:55:43 AM Pretty sure fancy is a troll. He was probably just googling (if he can actually use google) pictures of Saint Nick and found this, it's the same guy from the Wikipedia page. Typical dumbass US attitude to ancient traditions that happen on one day of the year, thousands of miles away from you and you could just pipe down and leave it alone. Hello? Chimney sweeps? But that's really what this whole pooty website is about, fancy trolling and having a go at things he knows nothing about. |

Sunday, November 25, 2012 2:44:23 AM Draculya you're a moron. All that crap happened generations ago. Are we to be held responsible for the sins of our fathers? Because, as a jew, you should know my people were enslaved for many more centuries than the blacks but you don't hear us crying about "reparations". Quit playing the race card . . . espacially when it doesn't even apply. |

Saturday, November 24, 2012 11:03:11 PM Dracky, you seem to forget that it was Europeans who brought slaves to America in the first place, long before the United States even existed. When we broke free of your tyranny, we inherited your depravity, and half a million of us died in the process of ridding ourselves of it. |

Saturday, November 24, 2012 7:28:41 PM For 400 years, Americans build an economy off the backs of slaves. Americans begrudgingly repeal slavery, in the process fighting a bloody war between the industrialists (who don't require slaves) and the agriculturalists (who quite like them thank you very much). Americans still maintain segregation for a hundred years. Inequality remains to this day, resulting in huge racial tension and excessive political correctness. Fast forward to today, where Americans accuse Europeans of racism for blacking up for a traditional religious and cultural festival. So FUĆKING TYPICAL |
