@BostonKaiser - That's not a myth. He played right-handed guitars, flipped them & re-strung them so the string configuration was normal. Lefty guitars were made at the time but they were all custom made and not in regular production like they are today.

The first time I ever saw a video of myself playing that a friend recorded at a show years ago I couldn't f*cking believe the faces I was making. I was laughing my a$$ off when I saw it and realized that it's pretty much all done subconsciously. Then I tried to keep myself aware of it and not do that at the next show we played but couldn't because when I focused on that I wasn't paying attention to what I was playing and would start f*cking up and it screwed up my timing. Sometimes it actually seems like those faces make you play better and also if you go see a band and they're just standing there playing with blank expressions it's harder for the audience to get into it. |
